Now is the time for Democrats to come together and be hyper focused, this is very very serious stuff. The next two elections are going to dictate if the country will remain a democracy or not.

You're just aiding and abetting a turd like Gingrich by spreading this horse manure. No, they are not going to imprison the Jan. 6 Committee when they'd have no case. Yes, the GOP is a collection of proto-fascists these days and they'd love to pull all of that off, but they won't. They had three Benghazi investigations and Hillary showed up and testified for 12 hours and it resulted in jackchit. These blowhards are evil, but you should show some discretion about how much of their lies you spread around the internet, because that is what they want from you: FEAR.
You think anyone else who cares doesn't know the mid-terms are critical?
Yelling it from the rooftops won't change a single vote
Every candidate still has to run a strong campaign and we all need to get out the vote like the last election. You could say the people of Atlanta saved the republic last time. This time it will be in some tight Senate race that swings the balance to 52 Senate seats or more to give the Dems back full control without having to deal with the Manchin and Sinemas
Anyway, this is the last time I'm going to post about it, but I'm pretty sick of the whining about how the Democrats are blowing it. Keep talking like that and you'll create a self-fulfilling prophecy. Be careful what you speak

She must have received some seriously lucrative offers for her to vote against democracy the way she did. I can't see any other reason to do so. Makes no sense whatsoever. Also, her emphatic thumbs down vote against minimum wage will never be forgotten. She's got to go.

There’s a theory out there that she’s trying to pivot to being an Independent, complete with leaving the party. She had to be the most despised politician in Arizona, which is a feat considering there are Republicans who are actively trying to rig elections. My concern with that strategy is that there will be vote splitting which will let the Republican win. I hope she just **** off with a lobbying job somewhere and is never heard from again or she runs as a Republican.

Bill Barr is apparrently cooperating with the Jan. 6 Committee to some degree. He resigned before the insurrection, presumably because he didn’t want to go down with that ship. The DOJ was his roost so he was going to be on the hotseat one way or another.
Trump had an order written up to seize voting machines. It may have been the straw that broke Barr’s back and prompted him to resign

Sanders is trying to help Biden, not undermine him. He's done it numerous times. You always misinterpret it as Biden being spineless. The whole point is it is usually better that someone from the ranks calls them out, not the POTUS.
I never said he was trying to undermine him. That's your interpretation. He's filling Biden's void is what he's doing. Biden's not spineless. He just doesn't really care that much to stick his neck out for us. And, no, it's not better for it to come from someone other than POTUS. POTUS has The Power of The Bully Pulpit. If ever a time he should be using it is now. This is his presidency and his agenda that is on the ropes. Bernie's focus in not helping Biden. It's doing all he can for the working class people who desperately need help.
This is good for Bernie (it’s only really good for Bernie) but what exactly does this change? Does this get Manchin and Cinema to change their votes and be less of douchebags? This is pretty much a no brainer that those two should be primaried, but they’re up in 2024. This solves nothing in the short term or in 2022.
This is the issue with the Democratic Party overall. This **** is so performative and not at all substantive. What Bernie and every Democrat with high profile on social media should be doing is saying “If you want to get rid of the filibuster and protect voting rights we need to keep the house and elect more Democrats in the Senate.” And what they need to do is highlight all the high profile Senate races like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and mobilize volunteers and fundraising for the Democratic nominee no matter who it is. 2022 should be the singular focus from every single Democratic Party member and there should be a clear explanation of how destructive Republicans are. Roll out the video of Mitch McConnell insinuating African Americans aren’t “real Americans” and ask if this is who you want leading the Senate.
Calling out Cinema and The Coal Baron gets likes on Twitter but solves nothing in the short term.

I hear you but it wouldn't be performative if Biden was doing it and then backing it up with some executive orders or some rallies in their respective states to put heavy pressure on them. What was the purpose of going to Atlanta? Was that performative? How about the Tom Hanks video? Performative?
Maybe Bernie actually is trying to help Biden out by being the laying a ramp for him to gain some momentum and push his agenda harder? I don't know because Biden isn't following up on it, yet. Somebody has to say something.
I understand you and Clyde (more so) are invested in supporting the candidate you thought was best for the job. And, in all fairness, I feel the same about Bernie ... even more so now. But Biden's failing the American people now with his fecklessness.

I've said it before but I believe things could go either way, we are either at the fork or close to arriving there. Hope for the best, what else can you do.
One thing that is certain, we are seeing more and more people just give up on the Pandemic, literally being done with it. Was watching Bill Maher last night, he and one of his guest on the panel were saying they've been done with it for weeks now, Maher just wants to get back to performing. To hell if hospitals are overflowing, he needs his adulation damn it!
God forbid another variant shows up that is more lethal then Omicron. It would not be pretty.
J
Bari Weiss. As soon as I saw she was a panel guest, I held my breath. Then when she started with that rant I changed the channel. I couldn’t listen to her. Did Bill let that one slide?
Yes, that's who it was, Weiss was just mirroring whatever Maher was saying, she was all onboard with him, I fast forwarded a couple of times, couldn't take it. Being in the middle of Omicron, with hospitals overflowing with patients and health workers being infected and having to take time off from work, it seems like a bad idea to "give up" on the pandemic and act like it's not even happening. As the experts say, if we can hold off for another 2-4 weeks, we should be in a much better place. Representative Torres was the voice of reason, he was far more sensible than the other two.

Bari Weiss update: Doctor on CNN calls her out for “acting like a child who wants to take her ball and go home.” I didn’t know she the Editor of The NY Times editorial staff. That’s crazy. She’s a loon.

Looks like we're going to be able to finally pry Pelosi's hands off all of her stock holdings and put an end to her and Congress's inside trading proclivities. It's amazing the effect that a few new polls can have on some politicians.

Pelosi now says she’s open to banning stock trades by members of Congress

House speaker had previously argued that lawmakers should be able to participate in free-market economy
In a reversal from previous comments, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday she was open to banning stock trades by members of Congress.
Her change of heart appeared grudging, though.
“I have great confidence in the integrity of my members. They are remarkable. So when people talk about well, somebody might do this and somebody, I trust our members,” Pelosi told reporters at her weekly press conference on Capitol Hill. “To give a blanket attitude of we can’t do this and we can’t do that because we can’t be trusted, I just don’t buy into that. But if members want to do that, I’m OK with that.”

Good to see her getting shellacked by the good doctor. It's all about me, me, me with these people, the first word that comes to mind is "selfish" when I think about Weiss and Maher. All they're being asked is to wear a mask and avoid crowds till we get this more under control, they're not being asked to storm the beaches of Normandy for christ's sake.

Amen brother! The fact that this was a hill Pelosi was willing to die on, shows how beneficial it is for these politicians to trade on what is essentially inside information, something that you and I can't do. Good to see her change her mind, the blow back must have been too much for her. She and her husband are worth north of 100 million for f@#$ sake, it's never enough for some people.

Yea Biden’s speech in Atlanta was performative. Did you actually believe anything would get done? However it is important for the President to be talking about voting rights and bringing attention to the issue, less important for him to be using his time on publicly bashing Manchin and Cinema. However, he could have been focused on voting rights for the past year and we’d still end up at the same point. The problem isn’t that Biden hasn’t talked about voting rights enough or he hasn’t yelled at Manchin and Cinema, the problem is that he doesn’t have 60 Democrats in the Senate or enough to carve out the filibuster for voting rights.
I wasn’t invested in supporting any candidate. The only thing that mattered is that Democrats should be in power because Republicans can’t be trusted and have proven to be corrupt. I care about solutions and Bernie talking about primarying Manchin and Cinema in 2024 does absolutely nothing to get voting rights passed now or winning seats in 2022. No amount of criticism matters to those two clowns so the focus should be on making them less important by electing more Democrats. And this criticism isn’t just reserved for Sanders. It should be the focus of every Democrat, organization and activist group Turn the anger at Manchin and Cinema into action.
We should be seeing more of this in every state from every member of the Democratic Party and organizations.

I have nothing against Pelosi, it was her dismissal of the idea of a stock purchase ban that I had a problem with. You have some of these people leave classified meetings and immediately calling their stockbrokers to sell or buy certain stocks. That is an unfair advantage, they're using nonpublic information that the average Joe doesn't have. They need to pass a bill that would require lawmakers, their spouses and dependent children to transfer certain investments into a qualified blind trust while serving in office.

Do either of you have a smoking gun that shows Pelosi engaged in insider trading?
I'll wait
I have nothing against Pelosi, it was her dismissal of the idea of a stock purchase ban that I had a problem with. You have some of these people leave classified meetings and immediately calling their stockbrokers to sell or buy certain stocks. That is an unfair advantage, they're using nonpublic information that the average Joe doesn't have. They need to pass a bill that would require lawmakers, their spouses and dependent children to transfer certain investments into a qualified blind trust while serving in office.

The right is waging a hard core campaign to label Pelosi an inside trader. You guys are being reckless in the way you discuss it publicly.
She’s a smart woman with a hedge fund husband. If anything, she probably goes out of her way to make sure he doesn’t violate her integrity.
Criticize her position on stock trading, but be very careful about sliding into the smear campaign. You want to judge her character based on her position, fine, but I see a lot more than that going on

To be specific, the inside traders were Kelly Loeffler and Richard Burr. An inquiry into their activities was shut down by Barr, but could be re-opened by the current DOJ. I’d love to see that happen. The amount of profiteering done on the back of the pandemic was truly gross
I don’t agree with Pelosi, but I’m pissed at the lies being spread about her on Faux News and the even more virulent shock jock outlets. I have overheard Trumpers in Florida multiple times call Pelosi an inside trader, so it is already embedded in the minds of the sheeple. Don’t facilitate right wing propaganda

Is Pelosi your aunt or something? Does she invite you to her home to taste the many different types of chocolate ice creams from all over the world she keeps in her two $10,000 freezers? But you think somehow she’s not motivated by money? Ok.
She’s not always good on policy either. She made a huge blunder and got bamboozled by Manchin when she detached the BBB bill from the infrastructure bill. The good news is that she agreed that would step down from her speakership after this year.
So what else do you think is going on here, Swami?

This is all you need to know about Bari Weiss. She’s the ultimate Karen.
And I threw this in here just for you. It lets you know about her “ideas”
And yet Bill Maher is right with her. WTF happened to that guy? Did someone lace his weed with with bat shyt powder because he’s bat-shyt crazy now. I’m can’t watch his show anymore. I used to look forward to watching him each week. Now I avoid him completely.

This is not a right/left issue it's about everyone playing on a level field.
Insider and several other news organizations in 2021 identified 54 members of Congress and at least 182 high-ranking congressional staffers who've failed to properly report their financial trades as mandated by the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act of 2012, also known as the STOCK Act.
While lawmakers who violate the STOCK Act face a fine, the penalty is usually small — $200 is the standard amount — or waived by House or Senate ethics officials. Ethics watchdogs and even some members of Congress have called for stricter penalties or even a ban on federal lawmakers from trading individual stocks, although neither has come to pass.
