seriously - we need to call the bluff and just wait - there is nothing else out there for them

let Donovan get upset - let them hurt the tank - let the team squirm

Shams, Woj, and any other expert could say what they want, but Mitchell will not start the season with the Jazz that is a guarantee..maybe not the Knicks but it sure as hell won’t be the jazz

Please stop with the nothing else out there for them nonsense, it’s not true. As I said before teams sometimes have players they value much higher than fans think they should, moves can be made just because we don’t think they can. Please stop with this line because it’s not true.

Nets already wavering and would not get a huge offer for KD.

Ainge about to hit reality when the market resets.

I mean, we do have leverage if we can just walk away and start the season without him

If there's a mandate to trade for a star though, then yes, we have little leverage.

Utah really is going to try and play hard ball threaten to keep Mitchell into the season.
I sincerely doubt Mitchell/CAA lets them, but their entire leverage is based on Donny being a good soldier

has hasn't made a stink yet, and he supposedly is very much about his image. Leon/WWW with the CAA connections better start doing there back channel stuff to Donovan and his agent...because unless they start putting public pressure (not behind the scenes pressure. This needs to go public or Ainge will believe he has all the leverage.

I think the way to create leverage without damaging his image is to "leak"... DM wants nothing to do with the Jazz and has his sights set on NY... from a "credible source." DM simply doesn't confirm or deny.

I'm not saying we shouldn't make a good offer, I'm saying that our good offer is way better than anything out there, so we stick with it, not jump the gun and give up everything for no reason

How long does Leon get if he can't significantly improve the team? How do you significantly improve the team without acquiring star players? How often are star players put up on the trade block? The people who think we have all the leverage are completely delusional.

Addressing the Miami Heat angle:

1) Obviously the Heat would be looking to add Mitchell to Butler and Bam. Trading Bam in the process makes little sense because it would not even be clear if it improves the Heat by a whole lot. Any deal around Herro would include multiple Heat unprotected FRPs. That is exactly the problem: a Butler, Bam, Mitchell trio (along with Lowry) would have the Heat a top the conference with Boston and the FRPs become 28-30ish, essentially making them pretty much insignificant. Since the Jazz do not want impact players back and are focused on a tank, their core target in any Mitchell trade are the unprotected FRPs. They are not going to trade with a team they believe will give them **** FRPs. For the Heat to pry away multiple valuable FRPs from teams such as OKC, they would have to give up Bam. Again, does that make sense?

The Jazz are NOT going to trade with teams they believe are going to be top 3 teams in their conference after a deal. It simply makes zero sense for them. And I doubt any team in the league would give up unprotected FRPs in 2029 or later---Mitchell is simply not worth risking your franchises' future like that. He is not Lebron James.

If you want to contemplate realistic Knick alternatives for the Jazz you have to find a team that, even after a Mitchell trade will be around 45-48 wins in a realistic scenario, thus giving the Jazz a realistic chance at multiple mid-first round picks (or better in case of inury).

Take the Wolves trade: There was an article citing that the Jazz where in talks with multiple teams around the league for Gobert. I'd bet there were some playoff teams involved, offering something similar. The Jazz took the Wolves offer because the fit in Minny remains unclear and the chance at it not working out and the picks being real solid is high.

I see OKC and NO as the only viable alternatives. OKC would be a solid fit due to Giddey and SGA being two tall playmakers next to Mitchell. However, at this point in time it looks like OKC wants another high pick in a historically deep draft--getting Mitchell would put them back in the playoff picture--they are likely not going the Mitchell route at this point in time.

NO is likely the only team wanting to compete next season and having enough interesting picks to get a deal done.

If you want a fun team to root for (many's rationale for trading for Mitchell and have a midget back court duo) Westbrook is your guy fight me

I think the mandate was to sign Brunson. Anything more than that is just icing. I'm perfectly fine going into the season with what we have. Well know soon if our FO feels the same way.
