Trade deadline was last week, but it's definitely time to tank and improve the picks we have. The danger now is if Joe Douglas is out to save his job, he may chase useless wins. I'd be calling up Adrian Martinez to train with Rodgers, and start giving other young guys with a pulse opportunities.

I got sucked in and included them in betting parlays. Thank goodness I hit 2 six-team parlays, a four team and then a 7 team teaser. But if the f*ckin' Jets could win a game!!!

Rodgers' contract expires at the end of this season? If so, we should start a list of potential QBs, trade targets, and draft big board. But with Woody in charge, is there really any hope?

I'd like to see them have the guts to bench Rogers, at least for one game. See if his virtual takeover of the franchise cast a pall over the entire team's mental state and contributed to the sharp decline of what had been a good defensive team.

With Rogers not throwing passes over 15 yards and being 41 or so, his looming return next year has to be depressing - like the pre-Leo Knicks.

Is he under contract for next season? If so, we have to trade him and recoup whatever we can. Trade him to a playoff contending team that needs an experienced backup.

That feels like a missed opportunity. On the one hand, I respect that the NFL says no trades past game 9 (or 8 depending on the bye). On the other hand, it'd be nice if they had been sellers but I think they still have pieces to sell in the off-season for a full rebuild.

Right now, the final playoff spot in the AFC is 5-5. (in the NFC 6-3), so 9-8 could see playoffs and the Jets have a lot of games against not very good teams. 8-9, in theory, could see playoffs this year. So I'm not saying they should, but I'm sure Aaron Rodgers is thinking "I can still turn this around"

Tough year. I was obviously wrong going in with optimism.

Maybe some cap experts will chime in, but Rodgers is under contract, with an option for the team to release him for 2025.

He's owed 2.5 million, with a 35 million roster bonus, so, if NY adds him to the roster, he eats 35 million in cap space and they can trade him. If they don't add him to the roster, he gets paid 2.5 million to leave the team and become a free agent.

Off hand, I'd guess they release him.

If 2025 is a tank season, may as well put Daniel Jones in there.

Point being, a tank season, you don't need to look for a QB. They can put out feelers and inquire about guys teams have benched who might still have potential, but at this point, I don't think a QB for 2025 is the top concern.

Yeah, the good news about their one year vets is they should be able to line up a few compensatory picks for letting them walk. That won't help this season, but it'll make next season a great time for a GM to rebuild.

For the QB thing, I wouldn't be mad at re-signing Tyrod Taylor to be a bridge QB while Jordan Travis is the backup (who will likely get opportunities since Taylor is injury prone). Then depending on how the FO feels about Travis, they'd be back in the draft looking for the QB of the future  or Travis proves he's that guy hopefully.

The big offseason question is gonna be about the talented young guys with contracts expiring soon; ie: Hall, Wilson, Sauce, etc.

Might as well trade Hall and Wilson now. Hall for sure will be washed up by the time the Jets are good. Running backs only last 4 or 5 years.

Wilson is probably looking to leave anyway. I mean, if he was sane, he would be. So trade him now while they can get value.

I'd trade everyone. Including Q. What's the point of keeping them? Jets are 5 years away from being good. If they were a normal team. So, make that 10 or never, since Jets.

I'm honestly not opposed. I'd keep the young O-Line guys (Tippman, AVT, and Fashanu) and Will MacDonald. Everyone else could go for the right price.

Just bring in a new GM and give him picks to work with and a cap situation that isn't crippling, is all I ask.

The trouble is that Woody Johnson will search high and low for the sh*tiest GM and then hire that guy.

Hopefully Woody's too busy with an ambassador role to handle this hiring search. His brother wasn't much better, but anything beats Woody. I'll die on the hill that he's a worse owner than Dolan.
