Again, I'm no fan of this deal but considering that offense tend to get paid, as is health and youthful production, it's in the same eye popping (potentially mind numbing) range as both Snell and Johnson's contracts IMO. Maybe a tad worse, but not so much more awful than those contracts that it needs to go epic.

that's about where i am

No, no, it's bad. Don't try and spin a negative into a positive for no reason.

THJ knows what its like in NY. I would not be surprised on the second go round dude works his ass off. One thing I will give him credit for, he wants to be a stud, and is not content with just being in the NBA. He wants to be a Killer, so he will try to become better.

If you guys are still judging THJ on his last year as a Knick then you are either delusional or too stubborn to realize it is not as bad as you think. Do you remember what the team looked like in his last year here? When Alexi Shved was our best player because Melo, Amare and Bargnani all played less than 40 games. This kid wasn't ready to handle that load at that time. Put real players around him and he can excel.

Holiday was cheaper than i expected. I like him, and i do think he was worth signing at that contract. But consider them 'the exact same player' is WAY off. Holiday is a better defender than Hardaway, but he is nowhere near close the same player. Atlanta often looked for getting the ball to Hardaway when big shots was needed. His ball handling has improved to the degree, where he was often the player to take the ball up the court. And he had 23 games of more than 20 points. Holiday was ever gonna be that guy offensively. Hardaway even shot more effeciently this past season, despite often being needed to create his own shot.

I can understand if Hardaway seems overpaid, but there is no comparison to Holiday. There is a legit chance that Hardaway will become a 20 PPG player on fairly good shooting percentage.

Can we please stop using PPG as a metric that correlates to anything.

I am not saying that PPG is the indicator of how good a player is. You can easily remove my last statement, and still come to the conclusion, that the two players are very different players. I believe Hardaway is a much better, and valuable player than Holiday, but my main argument is really that outside of being wing players and somewhat comparable body type, there really isn't much comparable between the two. Hardaway has the skillset and mindset of being a legit offensive second or third option, Holiday has not.

Hardaway's best case scenario is Crawford. Even if he reaches that, it is at best a third guard off the bench level. Why lose all your flexibility and put yourself back to cap hell just for the next Crawford? Makes absolutely zero sense to me.

Sixers and Wolves

good choices but hard to root for someone in the same division. the timberwolves are good because i can imagine what the knicks might look like if we hired thibbs to run it all.

If we had lost their games, and kept the #3 pick was Phil still going to take Porzingis or take someone he saw as the consensus guy, Jahlil Okafor?

A few years ago THJ was getting the treatment that M.N'Dour is getting now on this board.

Translation: maybe we should lock NDour up for 4 years $6 million instead of 4 years $60 million in a few years? :D

Tim Hardaway commanding enough shots to be your second option on offense is a good way to compete for being the worst team in the NBA.

Holliday as a bench wing that could score efficiently enough to command minutes for no cost was a better alternative, imo.
