Re: 2019-2020 College/Draft thread (Part 2)
I just feel like if it wasn't for the remote chance of drafting wiseman literally nobody would be suggesting right now that we trade Mitch. Someone said we should trade Mitch and a first for another first in this draft, that sounds insane to me. Mitch is already everything you could hope to get in a 1st and we are going to trade that and another first for a mystery box

Wiseman is 50x better. #sorrynotsorry.
Y’all the same people that didn’t want to trade Mitch for Zion or AD.
Because he dominated highschoolers? !0x better than the GOAT FG percentage?
Hey call me crazy but I want to see Mitch and Obi in the front court if Lamello and Hayes are not available.
Well, he didn't. At least at offence

I don’t get the disregard for Mitch here. He has as much upside as Wiseman imo. He just needs development and good coaching. His bounce is elite and his 2nd jump is too. He just needs to get stronger. We have not seen Wiseman play at this level yet.
Mitch without playing for a year and a half came in and started swatting everything and dunking everything. That’s not easy to do for any rookie big. I think a good coach can unlock his full potential. I don’t see center as a position of need at all.

Draft the talent and worry about fit later. If we somehow got the first pick, I would draft Wiseman regardless of already having Mitch here. He's honestly the only prospect that I truly see as a top 5 selection. This draft is weaker than dollar store diapers.

well that's what I'm saying, even if we draft wiseman i'm still keeping mitch around. mitch was already playing as a backup anyway. We just deal with it and have a two headed monster center rotation

The 2021 draft seems to be absolutely loaded and I don’t anticipate us being any good next year.
With that being said, I’m all for selecting a guy like Isaac Okoro. You know he’ll be rock solid in the NBA with (potential) impactful 2 way upside. Again, he’s someone teams like the Heat, Raptors, and Celtics LOVE to target.

Outside of SGA, there still isn't conclusively, and in most known drafts he wasn't higher than Knox.
I wouldn't write him off just yet.
Honestly, there's a lot of SGA hindsight folks popping out the woodworks as well. Knox was a reasonable selection. The question for me is what criteria Mills and Perry used to select Knox. How complex, how detailed, how thorough was the scouting reports on Knox vs. the other players. What was their long term plan? I mean I would imagine that unless they were absolute blithering idiots they had to have seen and maybe even planned for this past free agency period. If so, then you would think they'd have gone into the draft with more of a win now mentality. If so, then one of the Miles would have seemingly been the better selection? You know, those kinds of things.
iirc, when Knox got drafted, Mills and Perry pretty much admitted the season would be a rough one. Fiz from time to time basically alluded to it as well, calling the team a college team quite a bit.
As for the draft that year, I recall it was reported Knox wowed them in a workout or something, but he likely was their safe pick all the long.
That's not all true. Before reports came out that the Knicks liked him after their workout his stock was dropping like a rock and he was outside the lotto in most mocks and under SGA. I remember tons of posters, including me, saying if we did anything don't take Kevin Knox because he's nowhere near a lotto talent. He wasn't a good player in college IDK why anyone would think he'd become a good pro.

His shot was great in college for somebody his size. The issue then was he was playing in a system designed to screen for him. For most his time on the knicks Fiz was running a handoff/iso system that was complete trash.

Yeah just dont get urge to casually pawn off Mitch. Mitch is uber talented and has demonstrated this on the pro level under less than par circumstances.
What he's doing know with zero College BBal experience..little BBall experience overall is amazing to me. Now Im not knocking Wiseman -his physique is imposing and he has an RJ like winner mentality,...but there's question a marls about his skills. I saw one recent draft report ranking him at 10h and Sbnation (https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2019/12/21/21031750/james-wiseman-nba-draft-2020-memphis-tigers-scouting-report) said this:
Wiseman has a long way to go on offense
Wiseman is going to put up points just on dunks and layups around the rim. Beyond that, how his offense scales up to the next level will be one of the biggest points of discussion about his draft stock. While Wiseman averaged an impressive 19.7 points per game in his three games at Memphis, there remain major questions about how he’s going to score in the NBA.
Some evaluators believe Wiseman has long-term potential as a shooter, but he hasn’t fully shown it yet. Wiseman attempted one three-pointer at Memphis and missed it. In the EYBL, he went 4-for-27 (14.8 percent) from three-point range as a rising senior. Free throw percentage is also seen a big indicator of future shooting potential. Wiseman hit just 55.4 percent of 101 free throw attempts on the EYBL, but was much better at Memphis. Wiseman knocked down 19-of-27 shots from the foul line for the Tigers, good for a respectable 70.4 percent.
There is more to offense than just shooting, of course. Wiseman’s ability to finish putbacks will also come under the microscope. While he is a good athlete and quality rebounder, he lacks the elite second jump of the NBA’s best putback scorers. Unlike a player like Kings forward Marvin Bagley III who flies off the ground quickly, Wiseman takes some time to load up for his jumps and finishes.
While he’s still massive NBA standards, he won’t have such a pronounced size advantage when he gets to the NBA. He’s going to have to learn to score in different ways. So far, that remains a work in progress.
Meanwhile Mitch's second jump is probably among the leagues best.

I don’t mind drafting him. fit wise he’s going to bring the scoring we lack at point guard. As bad as he’s been efficiently he’s still a respectable enough 3 point shooter to keep the defense honest and has shot diversity off the bounce

Deni Avdija Full "UNGUARDABLE" 2019/20 Highlights ● The Next STAR!
Hey Everyone, I'm a NBA fan from Europe and i want you to know about Deni Avdija - Top 3 Projected Pick In The 2020 NBA.
so in my opinion Deni NO DOUBT(!!) has a great potential to be an NBA star, he had a wonderful season and don't forget that like Luka he played until now in the Euroleague and not in college.
He has everything that good young prospect needs to have, he is very athletic and runs the floor like crazy. He is also a great floor manager and his passes are amazing. Believe me as someone that watched every game of him, he is the next thing.
I made a video of his best plays from the Euroleague (thes second best league in the world), so you can impressed, enjoy from it (:
By the way, Deni played in Maccabi with a lot of former NBA players like Amare Stoudemire, Omri Casspi, Quincy Acy, Tarik Black, Tyler Dorsey and Nate Wolters.
If you can help me and to share the video with other fans i will appracite it very much guys, thanks.
If you have any questions you can ask everything!

I dont think Wiseman will end up being better/more valuable then Mitch. Never know though. Sounds like a horrible plan to trade Mitch right now. This isnt the draft where i would trade someone like Mitch for picks
