Obi had a great series in general.
12.3 ppg on 49% FG with 5.8 rpg in only 19.2 mpg.
He’s not a star, but those are top shelf per minute numbers and Carlisle uses him way better than Thibs. He’s rebounding more and playing solid D too.
I hope we kick Indy’s ass, but we could use Obi now with no Julius. Hopefully Precious can actually get some minutes against them.
he is just a good basketball player. he didn't become a star, and probably never will, but he is flat out good and the takes in here were beyond bs.
Obi is a unique and fun player.
He comes in and finds ways to score even though he almost never directly creates for himself with the ball. Just knows how to get open and finish. Became a 40% three point shooter too.
He’s a perfect fit in Indiana, playing 20-25 mpg in an uptempo system with a pass first PG. He was dealt a sh*tty hand here. There definitely seems to be some merit with Thibs holding certain players back when we see how RJ and Obi have flourished. We used Obi all wrong last year.
I know everyone was saying Precious > Obi, but Precious cant even play unless he’s as a small 5 with his non-shooting. We were losing with Precious as a starter in February-early March and it wasn’t until Deuce took over for him and then OG came back that we got right again.
Precious is obviously a better defender and rebounder than Obi, but Obi would probably be playing 15-20 mpg now since he’s a better fit with Isaiah/Mitch. Of course when we trade him for nothing Julius misses half the season and playoffs.
