Nobody can argue that Lin is the best young PG knicks had in 10 plus years with the most potential and we have people thinking we are not going to bring him back because of cap hell?

Does anybody remember 2000-2009? Cap hell with bums getting over paid left and right, but now when we have a real chance to get a ring the knicks front offical wanna act cheap come on, that right there I just can not understand.

I don't think the board was this salty when Gallo got traded.

doc is a complete troll..

BTW when the knicks have their press release on Tuesday saying "we had every intention of re-signing Jeremy Lin"

all this would have gone for naught and hopefully the rockets franchise rots in hell.

what if melo comes back next year and shoots like jared jeffries?

i don't understand where people get this bullsh*t from. why the f**k would Lin all of a sudden play like toney douglas? lin knows how to play the game. he's waaay more confident than toney ever was. to come in off the street after being benched and not given a chance for 2 years and light the league up says something about your character.

we also know that he's a very hard worker and is humble. which of these things would lead you to believe that he'll play like toney douglas next year?

Management is in win now mode, meaning they want vets and don't want to overpay for a young project, they would have traded Shump, they didn't overpay Fields and they're not overpaying Lin, simple as that.

Stop making everything into a conspiracy theory

Melo and Woodson are the two most powerful people on the team. They need to step up and make it clear they want Lin back. Dolan will spend if necessary; look at how much he gave Novak, Kidd, and Camby.

I like Lin and all that, but seriously f*ck him if he gets greedy, which is what the Knicks are probably thinking too, they will in depths of salaty cap hell that have never been seen before according to this article....http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2012/07/1 ... n-trade/...

If Lin isn't matched, its gonna be because of the finances nothing else.

Not to spite fans, not because NYK doesn't wanna win, not because the other guys are jealus, not because of the way he acts, etc...

Its gonna be because of the money.

The Lakers don't have a stock which shot up from a player's popularity resulting in a market cap increase of hundreds of millions of dollars. Poor example. You can't just look at cap numbers and luxury tax numbers when looking at this Lin situation.

Your BS one liners never contain anything tangible, if you make a statement back it up with facts

Because Lin has the chance to be much better than Felton. With Felton you get what you get... the upside is ZERO... and to be a serious contender we need UPSIDE.

Pretty much.

I said this about 110 pages back, but again...

Completely ignoring Lin (because I think we still match it), this was a great trade. I mean we got a starting caliber PG for Gadzuric and Jefferies (we also got another great veteran guy who won't play but will be nice for the locker room). I know Felton gets hate, but the dude is an above average PG. If the contract is 4 years $16 mil, it's a little long... but still a good deal.

I know everyone here is freaking out, but don't be so pessimistic. I see no way in hell that we actually give up Lin. I feel like it's the opposite of what everyone is saying about the luxury tax because instead of Dolan not wanting to pay it... he went out and added ANOTHER guy in addition to Lin. The Clippers had 4 PGs last year. It's about collecting assets.

From a basketball standpoint once Melo was paired with Amar'e our ONLY chance at beating Miami and hopefully winning a championship was finding that ONE transcendent basketball player (and because of the combination of Amar'e and Melo that player HAD to be a point guard) that no one else had the opportunity to find or the opportunity to sign that could propel the team to said championship. We saw CP3 a player that could be that player traded to the Clippers. Then we saw Steve Nash a player that also could be that player even if only for one or two more years traded to LA. And now our last chance was that Lin COULD become that player. That was it... game, set, and match. It's not happening without that transcendent special point guard making it all work.

Yeah, I don't get why people don't see this. Felton running the team doesn't really get us anywhere. Even if we don't win a title with Lin, we can go to WAR with this core. There's a chance Lin can be a special player and put us over the top. Felton makes us worse...

If he's in shape, and ready to bring it, he'll average more than that. Also depends on where his game is.

So he better show up ready to play at training camp.

He hasn't put 13/5 up in two years. When a player as young as Felton with obvious motivational issues starts declining, he usually just continues to decline.

Not a move we recover from -- either for the roster or for the fans. It'd be the end.

I've been a fan since '83 but even I could go no further.

come on now, that's an overreaction. lin's got potential, but it's not like he's cp3 or dwill. it would suck having fatty felton back, but the roster's still solid aside from that with a bunch of really tough, tenacious players; i could see an ecf run. plus, in three years, we could start from scratch.

Yes, Lin is no CP3 or DWill, but we're giving him up for Ray Felton! At least with Gallo, we're giving him for Carmelo Anthony! You see the difference?!

You're basically comparing Jeremy Lin in his first season as a starter in the NBA, to Raymond Felton in his 6th season as a starter in the NBA. The fact that Lin in his 1st season was outperforming Felton in his 6th season speaks volumes.
