If Gerrit Cole over the next 3 seasons can give you a top 5 pitcher then he is worth 21 WAR over that time.
21 WAR times $8mil is $168mil or $54mil a year.
After 3 years who knows what hell be.
Can inconceivable he could be a 3.5 WAR pitcher on average years 4-9 worth the $156 mil over the next 6 years.
