I don't like watching him either but you gotta do what you gotta do.... perch him in a corner on offense and have him pressure the ball on defense.. you can handle that.

Ha, my answer to you, in both cases, is no

I did bump this thread the other day after one of Harden's bad games.

What is wrong with that when I clearly gave him credit after the second game. Of course, it was not 80 million credit...but still credit.

I also mentioned OJ Mayo days ago in another thread and maybe even this one.

While Harden has the better handle, I think people clearly sleep on Mayo's talent level. Look at this this way, Mayo is going to be putting up his numbers on a well-rounded team, which was left for dead with Dirk's injury.

I only saw bits and pieces of Harden's game tonight. And I saw what I suspect was that Joe Johnson effect- and I used to be a BIG Joe Johnson fan. But after awhile you have to wonder about players who think they have to be "the man". Harden consistently waived players off so he can shoot or create for them. This board kills Melo for that, but Melo did this with a very good supporting cast in Denver and it worked.

It took Joe Johnson 4 seasons (if I'm not mistaken) to make Atlanta a winner. Just when he arrived versus the Celtics in that first playoff series, he started sulking as other players on his team got better and also wanted shots, etc...Harden needs to play SG and not PG, as I made the case that he and Lin played the same role.

Mayo learned that lesson the hard way in Memphis. Lionel Hollins did suppress his game but now we're seeing a player who is totally comfortable playing off the ball, whereas before he wanted to be SG/PG/JesusChristSuperstar!

Bottomline, dudes jumped out the window with some crazy statements and posts following Harden's first couple of games. He's a great piece of the puzzle but his game does not scream SUPERSTAR to me. I don't take that world lightly. We had some dudes comparing him to Lebron, LOL

McHale's a legend, but I'll never forgive him if he ends up wrecking that Houston team. Putting everything on Harden's shoulders and playing him 40 minutes a night is just going to break him, mentally and physically.

Jonathan Feigen ‏@Jonathan_Feigen

With Kevin McHale shouting 'move it, move it, move it' no one moved an inch. Parsons turnover. Grizzlies layup. Memphis up 12, 4:55 left.

Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen

Harden with more shots made, 4, than questions answered, zero. Bolted before locker room opened after going 4 of 18 with 5 turnovers.

So this is the coach's fault and not Lin and Harden's. But weren't you the same dude who was defended D'antoni tooth and nail when it has become apparent that it was his fault we were losing? Hmm...Double standard much?

Keep drinking that haterade. I had my doubts about Woodson but never had any particular attachment to D'Antoni--if you bother to search my posts, you'll even see that I praised woodson for managing minutes better than any coach that I've seen.

And yes, it is absolutely the coach's fault that Harden is getting run into the ground with 40+ mins a game as primary ball handler, putting the shackles on Lin to stand in the corner, and insisting on making PPat into the team's second scorer. I've never seen more coaching incompetence in my life.

Who is hating? I just find it funny how it is never Lin or Gallo's fault. Always a coach is using them wrong.

However for our beloved Knicks, it is always the players. Hating? No. Calling you out for you and others out for your obvious bias? Yes.

Page 6 of this thread is EPIC but most of the posters have disappeared after 2 games.
People laughing now but remember how Lin looked until defenses zoned in on him. Last night Harden was in a zone, sort of like when a player goes for 50pts and wakes up the league.

Once defenders zone in on Harden, let's see what his FG% becomes and his scoring.

This is what I posted then...and last night Harden went 4 for 18 with 5TOs. Of his 18 points, 9 came from the foul line. He did have 4 Rebounds and 4 Assists.

The Rockets have lost 3 in a row after winning their first two games (Detroit -- still winless-- and Atlanta).

I think we all knew those great games played couldn't be sustained, and we all knew a good defense will quiet that down.
