The low end guitar market - with the exception of the guitar/amp Mr. Bill bought- has improved dramatically over recent years.
Oh yeah, I have a low-end Les Paul ripoff myself, and it is awesome, but these all-in one guitar packs are made for children, who are forced to learn guitar by their parents, but have no enthusiasm to learn it themselves.
i do actually agree with gavran, as an adult player, though.
if you do want to start, it's best to get a guitar that is at least a $300+. you don't need an $800+. i did get a $100 guitar as a steal, as the store didn't realize what they had.
it's a Jackson Randy Rhoads V-Wing; I had it assessed by a guitar pro, and it's worth $500+, but they didn't realize what they had; it was a Guitar Center, and the guy behind the register said they just got it in and it hadn't been processed yet, so he said $100 would be fine.
i'd rather go with a good, used guitar (gibson) as a first one for $300 than a cheap, knock-off. they go out of tune a lot, and just sound terrible. they're hard to play.
i'm also partial to Jackson, as i'm a big Randy Rhoads fan; as well as Gibson, as i Toni Iommi is who got me into guitar, with the Gibson SG.
It’s difficult to find a used Gibson for under $1,000 much less $300, unless we hire you to swindle Guitar Center.
