Oh yeah, I have a low-end Les Paul ripoff myself, and it is awesome, but these all-in one guitar packs are made for children, who are forced to learn guitar by their parents, but have no enthusiasm to learn it themselves.

i do actually agree with gavran, as an adult player, though.

if you do want to start, it's best to get a guitar that is at least a $300+. you don't need an $800+. i did get a $100 guitar as a steal, as the store didn't realize what they had.

it's a Jackson Randy Rhoads V-Wing; I had it assessed by a guitar pro, and it's worth $500+, but they didn't realize what they had; it was a Guitar Center, and the guy behind the register said they just got it in and it hadn't been processed yet, so he said $100 would be fine.

i'd rather go with a good, used guitar (gibson) as a first one for $300 than a cheap, knock-off. they go out of tune a lot, and just sound terrible. they're hard to play.

i'm also partial to Jackson, as i'm a big Randy Rhoads fan; as well as Gibson, as i Toni Iommi is who got me into guitar, with the Gibson SG.

It’s difficult to find a used Gibson for under $1,000 much less $300, unless we hire you to swindle Guitar Center.

If you are looking for a LP style, check out the Vintage V100 one, I have the AFD issue, and it would sound great of I didn't suck Albanian balls. Epi's are good, but a little more expensive, while not particularly better by much, if at all.

I'll check for that as well, I saw like two used ones on Guitar center's website but i'll search around.

that's what i was gonna say. my first guitar i bought used, on my own, for $300. it wasn't as good as that one, but it wasn't one of those wal-mart knock off ones. my buddy had one of those. trust me, there's a difference

you are right, wingo, finding one under $1000. but those are more performance ones (my baby that I use for shows is ~$1,200 last time it was assessed).

RIP to two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee David Crosby, son of award-winning cinematographer Floyd Crosby and founding member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills and Nash (in all it's formations) who has passed away. He was 81 years old.

I was always a huge fan of both groups because of their incredible harmonies and guitar excellence. Plus, the songs were incomparable. A+ songwriting.

Croz left quite a legacy of music.

Just read that Jeff Beck died of bacterial meningitis. That's no joke.

https://theconversation.com/jeff-beck-dies-of-bacterial-meningitis-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-disease-197721

Influential English guitarist Jeff Beck, who rose to fame playing with the Yardbirds and later fronted the Jeff Beck Group, died on January 10 aged 78 after contracting bacterial meningitis.

Bacterial meningitis happens when germs get into the tissues (the meninges) surrounding the brain and spinal cord. The infection around the brain can cause swelling and inflammation that interrupts how the brain functions.

Many types of germ cause meningitis. The most dangerous of these are bacteria, which can be picked up from food that is not cooked properly or can be spread by infected people with a sneeze or a cough.

While the bacteria that cause meningitis are found in many people, most will not get ill. Why some people suddenly become sick with meningitis and others do not is not completely understood, but may be linked to certain events such as a head injury, or by another infection, or drugs that weaken the immune system.

People who contract meningitis can become ill very suddenly, in just a few hours in some cases. It is important to recognise the signs of this disease because fast action can save someone’s life.

The most common early symptoms include headache, fever with cold hands and feet, a stiff neck and a dislike of bright lights. Some patients may also develop a rash that does not disappear when a glass is pushed against it. In babies and young children, additional symptoms may include a strange-sounding cry and a sore soft spot on the head.

Beck’s death is a reminder that anyone can become ill from meningitis. While some groups of people are at greater risk of getting the disease, the germs that cause the illness can infect anyone. Young babies are at a higher risk for meningitis, but the risk also increases for older adults.

Bacterial meningitis should be treated urgently with antibiotics. This is why it is important to get seen quickly by a doctor if you suspect meningitis, because the quicker the treatment can be started, the more likely it will be able to stop the infection.

Just following up on the Duane Allman/Trucks & Tedeschi Band from the Heat game thread. If you like that deep south swamp rock vibe, then check out Tab Benoit, from Louisiana.

That was always my beef. Why are beginner guitars so hard to play  My Squier was such hot trash. When I finally got a strat it was like "ok, we here now."

Like you - I've got a knockoff Paul that I love. Small intonation issue with the G but otherwise a great and beautiful instrument.

My issue is I can't play righty  My right hand simply can't strum but it can chord.

The Affinities were trash but I hear they've gotten better. The Classic Vibes are widely recognized a very fine beginner to intermediate guitars at around $500. Great for modding.

Then it was an Affinity. This is my strat... though it's not an original 1968. Made sometime after that - mid-90s.
