1. Waiters is not a PG. It's great that he has some passing talent, but he's a chucker. You don't want your PG to be an inefficient chucker.

2. The Knicks only defender on the team is Shumpert (and Chandler when healthy). Waiters is an absolutely terrible defender.

3. Right now, Dion is basically an undersized JR Smith. Having one JR is too many.

Dion's best fit is as a sixth man, where he can handle the ball and be a spark plug for a team that doesn't get much scoring out of their bench (ex: Chicago).

Nice post.

Not super familiar with Waiters as a player, but I watched him in the Team USA scrimmages and summer league and this is pretty much exactly what I was thinking about him.

Undersized SG with very high scoring talent but seems to have a very "me first" attitude. Watched a summer league game where he was running some point and he got pretty hot and I think wound up winning the game for them. But it also seemed like he pretty much just went 1-on-whoever every time down the court or just jacked up 3's (sometimes on fast breaks). Was thinking "this kid has a chance to have a good career, but something about him screams underachiever", and trying to think of player comparisons I drew Jamal Crawford/JR Smith.

Dude could be a huge asset in the right system as a 6th man with a good coach. I have serious doubts about what his success would be as a starting PG in the league... especially on the Knicks.
