If by dream you mean fantasy:

Stephen Curry
James Harden
LeBron James
Carmelo Anthony
Marc Gasol

Or if you mean realistic:

Goran Dragic
Wesley Matthews
Carmelo Anthony
Tobias Harris
Jahlil Okafor

Even the second one is pure fantasy and not possible in a salary cap NBA lol

If you don't overpay Dragic its possible. If the Heat don't make the playoffs, he can explore his other options. Harris is likely going to be out of Orlando. Matthews is a question mark, but he can be intriguing.

do you realize Harris, Anthony and Okafor would be the worst defensive front court in the NBA?
No interior defense, they all play to score the ball.

Harris and Anthony are the same type of players. Redundant. Haven't we learned from the Francis/Marbury and Randolph/Curry debacle?

He said "dream" lineup? I lined up what's a "dream" lineup and what is realistic. You have to figure out the reality of which free agent is really going to come here.

I actually did suggest to be realistic in terms of salary in the first post. A realistic dream if you will. You can do as you wish of course.

In light of this new Philly Embiid stuff, I've got a new one for you guys. Let's assume we get the #2 pick and Philly really wants Mudiay.

Trade: Our first rounder (#2) to Philly for Embiid and their first (say #6).

Sign: Wes Matthews (13.5 per year); Rajon Rondo (11.5 per year); Jason Smith (mmle); Lou Amundson (vet min)

Draft: Willie Cauley-Stein (backup plan Frank Kaminsky)

Lineup:

Rondo/Galloway
Matthews/Calderon/THj
Melo/Early
Amundson/Cauley-Stein
Embiid/Smith

Obviously Amundson starting sticks out. But the reality is we would split the 2 big man minutes btw all 4 bigs. Ideally WCS (or Kaminsky) would develop to the point where they become the starting 4, but until then I think Amundson can do the dirty work with that starting lineup.

Thoughts??

Al Jefferson
Karl-Anthony Towns
Carmelo Anthony
Wes Matthews
Patrick Beverley

I feel that is a realistic lineup for next season, assuming we have enough cap for Al, Wes, Bev. Bev provides strong D and a respectable 3pt shot. Wes + Towns are 2 way players. Towns will obviously take time to develop though. He will at least provide good defense as a rookie. Al Jeff provides that inside presence and consistent 2nd scorer we need. Hes basically a more expensive Jahlil Okafor.

Thats a strong rebounding frontcourt, good perimeter defense and shooting.

i don't see how we have the cap space, but if those three agree to join melo, then we add towns or okafor... "oh, god!" as big sean would say.

thanks for everything, thibs.

13.5M for Wes ? A guy who had his first 30 pts game in 3 years yesterday. Nah, no more than 10 for him.
I will only cherish the wins and ignore everything else, because that's the only way to survive as a Knicks fan.

your going to be left out in the cold in FA if you think Wes is only getting 10 mill per.

That doesn't mean he'll be worth that contract.

Unless you don't want to spend $$$ on any FA they will all get overpaid. That is what FA is all about. Especially with the new TV deal and the cap supposedly sky rocketing, you would have to assume these FA are either going to take shorter deals years whys or get overpaid.

When you have someone like Tristan Thompson turning down 12 million per. And Reggie Jackson doing the same, you know these other guys will be asking for large $$$

I really depends on where we get a pick though, but I like that back court. If the pick is in the top 2 then I would get a center (3-5 a point guard)
