Calm your emotions, this was a smart move. KP is our eventual 5, so Lopez isn't needed long term. Rose is an expiring. Low-Risk High-Reward. Plus, we have around 35 million in cap space to play with now. We're going to grab Noah or Pau for pennies on the dollar next and make a real push for Derozan/Batum as well as improving our bench.

You all need to chill about DRose. He might not be PG killer like he was in '11, but he can ball damn well and he can open things up for Melo and KP.

He's good in spurts. He will have games where he looks like a star, and other games where he looks disinterested and doesn't belong on the floor. I don't recall him having much of an ability to open things up for shooters, but then again the Bulls didn't have reliable shot creaters beyond him and Butler, and they were like oil and water offensively.

Anyways, while I'm not a Knicks fan I do hope that this motivates Derrick to take his game to a higher more consistent level. As strange and aloof as he has acted the past few years no one deserves to go through what he did and no one can really understand the mindset of someone that had to go through all of that.

I think his motivation went down with so many unfortunate injuries and Jimmy being the guy in the team when he came back. Sometimes changes are for good. Hopefully this is the case. I love DRose. Him playing along with KP will be something I want to see.

I wasn't even that big a fan of Grant, but why give up on him this early for Derrick Rose? I'm gonna miss Rolo...he was a warrior for us.

I think it's worth the risk. Going to suck losing Rolo, but the way I see it they're taking a gamble with Rose (and probably another signing) and if it doesn't work out they trade melo and rebuild. KD wasn't coming here, and they weren't going to start a rebuild without at least trying something with Melo first, so this was their best option. They didn't give away any picks, and I'm seriously not crying over Grant, he looked pretty awful all year.

I think they're taking a shot on Rose because of the lack of FA point guards and if it fails, it's a low risk move since he's expiring.

Worse defense than Calderon, pathetic PER for his usage, and the Bulls were dramatically better with him off of the court.

The nicest thing about him is that he's expiring

Rose has one year left on his deal and this was essentially a Rose-for-Lopez deal. A center can be found for cheap. We didn't give up a first and gained even more flexibility/space for next summer's far superior FA class since Lopez is off the books.

Even if Rose is a shell of his former self he's far better than Grant/Calderon even if we only get him for 55 games. I like this FAR more than chasing Conley with a max or any other realistic PG situations. My expectations for next year aren't high but I still really like this move. It's safe/low-risk and we can easily move right on to the next plan if needed (which I'm sure we will).
