I know most people will be happy mainly because of the Melo situation but Carmelo needs to go regardless. He has no place on a rebuilding team and will only impede the growth of Porzingis the longer he remains.
While I am very happy to see Phil Jackson go, it's also a bittersweet moment. It means we'll see Steve Mills again and the Dolan lackeys return to power. It also shows how terrible our organization is run. Dolan just picked up Phil's option and then let him run the draft, only to fire him a week later. This is the same guy who fired Grunwald 2 days before the season started, hired Mills with no prior GM experience and then demoted Mills for Phil who also had no GM experience 1 year later. This was 3 GM's in 1 1/2 seasons. Just clearly shows that there is no rhyme or reason to any move. No basketball decision ever makes sense.
When was the last time we fired an executive and then did a league-wide interview for the position? We usually fire someone and replace him with one guy without interviewing anyone. And that one guy is usually a big name who has no prior experience or success at the position. It is truly sad that we can't be run like an actual professional team. Every decision we make is ass-backwards and never makes any sense.
It's a short-term victory for Melo brigade but it's another embarrassment in a long line of embarrassment for the Knicks. Make no mistake about it, I have been asking for Phil to be fired since before everyone else here, but this brings me no joy. Because I know what's to follow may be even worse.
The Knicks haven't proven me wrong. Again.

It's too early to make that statement. You're basing Perry off of a Melo trade and a few minimum wage signings. Wait until deadline at least.
