What do you think a AD trade would look like if we started with our 2019 1, Mavs 2021 1, Knicks 2021 1 Mitch and DSJ -

what else would we need to add? Is it possible to keep Knox in this situation

I think it would be possible to keep Knox if the pick we traded is Zion.
Problem is, we’re going to be in a bidding war.
If Celtics decide to make Tatum available, we gotta go all out. Zion & Tatum’s value can go either way. Who knows what Pelicans would value more.

Weren't their talks about, how the Celtics can only trade for AD after Kyrie signs his extension? If Kyrie joins the Knicks, there won't be an offer for AD. I don't think Danny Ainge would take the risk of trading Tatum for a 1 year AD rental.

If we were sending Vonleh I would hope we could get their late first back.

Though considering that we don't know if KD and Kyrie are coming next year, it might be worth it to keep Vonleh around in case they want him to be more amicable to the idea of signing with the Knicks again next year for a short contract.

So, I'll put this here as well.

Lots of speculation and sort of assumptions, mostly for optimism, that the Knicks get Zion. Of course, everyone knows he's a PF, so they figure that aligns with KD playing 3, and Kyrie being the creator/scorer at guard.

But lets be honest. It's far more likely, just based on math/odds, Knicks fall in the 2-6 range.

It seems like everyone slotted to go in the draft 2-6 is a SG (Reddish,Langford), possibly a SG/SF swing (RJ, Culver) or a PG (Garland, Morant). Apologies for missing anyone or any late risers. Also, not sure if there is any PF or C type that cracks the top 6, though maybe there's a guy getting close? Knickstape posted or talked about one.

Anyway, after exhausting all of the lineup combos with Zion in there, with the "DSJr traded, not traded Kyrie, no Kyrie" might be interested to see the takes on what the Knicks do , say, IF KP & Kyrie are coming, and to put the pick in the middle of likely, the Knicks pick #4.

Before anyone starts, I'd guess speculation is low as outside RJ, all these guys are sort of grouped, and then #3 is different than picking #6, what other teams do, etc.

Also, at least with those future Mavs picks, while they may not be enough to move from, say, #3 to #1 for Zion, one of them might mean the difference between 4 and 3 or 5 and 4 and the EXACT player the Knicks want (outside of Zion)

Definitely need assets for Vonleh/Wes. Would be hard to trade DJ. Prob do him a favor and buy him out to play with a contender.

Are two separate trades with the same team allowed or is that viewed as circumventing the rule?

I don't think more chips in GSW does that, teaming up in LA with LeBron doesn't do it and really there aren't many other places that brings the attention to an accomplishment like this that NY does. He would be seen as taking the decades long dumpster fire Knicks to a title and that would literally get him a statue somewhere in NY!

How many two star teams in the east are there right now to prevent a path to the finals for a two star(KD and Kyrie) Knicks team? There aren't any right now! Celts?...Nope.... Raps? Nope..... Bucks? Nope.... only Sixers could be considered a two star team and are they going to stop the Knicks with KD, Kyrie? Nope. Those others would have to add another star to be one, most are one star with great supporting cast teams.

Does anyone really believe that KD and Kyrie aren't fully aware of this? They know the easiest path to the finals is in the east and they'd be in the drivers seat because Perry has set the table with youth, salary flexibility and more picks coming down the road not to mention a coach for all his warts is a beloved guy for some reason.

KP will be watching the Knicks in the playoffs and maybe the finals from his couch before he possibly even makes the playoffs in the west. BAHA

I'm ambivalent about Kyrie primarily due to health concerns, but if him and KD come, there is probably no team but the Sixers blocking their path to the finals IMO. The Celtics have Kyrie now and absolutely no one of KD's caliber to pair with him, so the Knicks would be better than the Celtics right away.

Dolan fancies himself a songwriting legend. Randolph is a slide guitar maestro with a longstanding relationship with MSG so it wouldn't be surprising if he occasionally gets some intel from the boss himself, though I doubt he ever has the full picture. He shouldn't be dropping hints though. Stick to playing guitar.

Oh, for sure, me too. Kyrie only seems to make it to and through the playoffs half the time but in a 4 year contract span that would be twice.

If the Knicks keep Smiff and Frank they wouldn't be left completely lacking in PG play even though it would subtract one of 'stars' from the equation unless another one develops from the youth they already have or draft.

I doubt the rest of the teams in the east stand pat and not try to add another star quality guy but the Knicks have really placed themselves in the mix provided they actually turn this opportunity into reality.

I'd consider trading Frank to the Mavs for the removal of the protection on the 2023 pick and a 2nd.

Let me add the caveat that I love Frank, would be totally happy keeping him, and think he'd fit in fantastically with a super team of 2 max FAs.

But getting picks rawdog is next level flexibility and positioning to be at the front of the list on ANY trade that goes down in the league.

My preference has always been KD and Kawhi. Elite Wings are more important than an Elite PG.

Just realized the lottery is May 14 and the actual draft is 143 days away

I'm staying plugged in until the trade deadline to see what Perry does, but after that it has to be mostly ghost time for the rest of this season. I can't get anything done if I spend hours a day talking to you clowns!
