it make sense though if the kings want him. he knows he might be on borrowed time here. so instead of getting fired he gets another job now and more money/years.

I think it's more Macri hinting around that Perry is somewhat sidelined under this new "administration".
Perry went from having at least half input on the direction of the franchise to probably functioning as a technocrat, in that he knows the proper levers to pull etc as far as the rules, as a GM, but the decision making and vision are completely not in his hands.
So Marci rightly concurs Perry might want out.
But I gather Macri has no idea if Sactown wants Perry.
