this team has been awful for 2 games in a row now and attempted to comeback twice and only could only do so yesterday because they were playing g-league level talent. and people here are talking about stats from this game. sad.

it’s like nobody on this board can think in the macro. Deuce dropped 19 points against something called “jacob gilyard” and now he’s better than IQ

That’s just hezi being salty about being wrong about IQ for years like IQ couldn’t score 19 in his sleep like he didn’t fill in for Brunson and score double that against Boston last year with 38 8 and 7 when Brunson missed a game

When we trade McBride for the equivalent of multiple first round picks and he’s starting somewhere I might begin to entertain such a wild statement

That said I don’t want to diminish McBride stepped up and had a pretty good game

Not getting too attached to our homegrown youngins, Deuce or Grimes. Don't trust Thibs. They are only trade bait to him.

More like being happy I was right about Deuce and not needing to watch that selfish chucker anymore :D

Pretty sure even Malachi Flynn can give us 7 ppg on 33 % fg and 27% 3 point in the playoffs if given opportunity

Duece couldn’t sniff IQ’s jock strap

NBA is all about opportunity so we really didn’t know what we had in Deuce until he got his opportunity. Quickly too, he was given his opportunity the same way then was able to make the most of his minutes early on in his career. Just because Deuce wasn’t playing or when he did he was usually out there with Quickly who dominated the ball and Deuce was getting quick hooks for mistakes here and there doesn’t mean he isn’t good. He was good in college, good in the GLeague and he’s played well ever since Quickly got traded not just tonight, he’s a baller.

That’s cool but saying he’s a better player then IQ is delusional

4M vs 24M yes it is...

And you offloaded RJ contract in the way... IQ wasnt going to stay here next season

He averaged 2 minutes. This is how I know you are desperate because now you are reaching for Deuces playoff numbers when the court side fans saw more time on the floor than him

Since we got rid of RJ that means we will have money to spend this summer?

Any free agents we should target?

You must be down bad to be bringing up Deuces playoff numbers in 2 minutes just to hide from IQs dreadful numbers in 20 mpg

We can trade for a bench scorer, I don’t really care as long as they don’t overpay. Would be wiser to get a backup big or another wing because we are more thin in those areas than at guard

Knicks fans should unite around the fact that neither IQ or McBride are all that good and very challenged at getting into the paint or turning the corner on a defender, breaking down the defense. Both seem to shoot 3's and play nice defense though.

Or we can get a grip and stop expecting All Stars from a FO that only uses the draft for late round pick role players. Both IQ and Deuce are absolutely incredible for where they were drafted. IQ outperformed his role so thoroughly that it allowed the FO to get the vet it wanted.

I look forward to fans overhyping our next late round pick only to see him either traded for a Vet or whither away in Thibs’ doghouse.

McBride is fine. IQ was good. They are fine for where they were drafted. I'm not going to overrate Deuce on a few good games. IQ had a bigger body of work but had his obvious flaws as well.

There are two things teams can, and generally do with their draft picks. Ok, three.

They can trade the picks away, like the Knicks did for years. Do they continue to trade picks? Yes. Which is fine, as long as they hold onto the majority of the rest of the picks and the trades are mostly good. So far that's true enough last few years.

They can draft the players, develop them and play them. They've done this as well too.

Then they can trade some of those developed players. That's also getting value out of the picks, which the Knicks couldn't do in the past, because they traded them.

I'd have ZERO problem with Grimes or McBride (in 6 months) being traded if they are traded for actual good players.
And if the Knicks use some of their picks to put some more young players in the pipeline, even if it's only 2 at a time.

Deuce showed some excellent attacking ability last night. He had some beautiful finishes in the paint and then those wrap around passes to Randle and Hartenstein after he drove were just spectacular. I’ve never seen IQ make those type of reads in his entire career. Deuce also has shown a mid range game which IQ lacks. IQ will go for the step back 3 all the time whereas Deuce has shown more of an in between game to go along with his outside shooting. To me he’s just an overall better player than IQ.

I think Deuce will be fine. I think he can replace IQ, especially next year, where his game will take off like IQ's did, getting better at getting into the paint, running a team etc.

Still puts his ceiling at 6th man, backup PG and the Knicks team lacking that 2nd attack the paint creator. That's a different discussion, where the Knicks will probably get those abilities at SG, and Donte can take his rightful place as a bench player.

*IQ added the mid range stuff this year.
McBride seems to be starting with a more well rounded set of skills though, so interesting to see how that develops, if he gets the chance.
