Just watched the replay of the game and realized Thibs put Randle back in after that Jalen 3 that put us up 112-96 which was the largest lead of the game. Six minutes left in the game. I don't even know what to say....

Lol Toppin is a regular bench player. Stop it.

Who was and who is Randle’s backup?

Nah, it was still within reason to put him in the game. Six minutes is a lot of time left - especially as we saw the Heat erasing our 13 point lead before half time.

I am not going to blame Thibs on this one.

FO already wanted Burks apparently. People say Gallinari is washed but his per 36 numbers look the same except his 3 pt % is down a little. And we're not asking him to be a hero, just a stop gap. Throw in light draft compensation since they are expiring deals or maybe Rokas since we'll seemingly never have a place for him on the team

Offense may take a dip..but the defense should be a lot better without Randle. Hart positive regression is due.

Yeah, not worried about bringing in a natural PF. We are a strong rebounding team with guys like Hart that play bigger than their size.

Scoring and passing are the areas we will miss Randle. He has 5 assists per game, 5th at the PF spot in the NBA.

The comments about Obi coming back are a joke I guess? Wasn't he going off on coach at the end? And Obi can't be reacquired during the same season, NBA rules about traded players.

knicks are not trading for obi even they could. he provides nothing we need. we need someone who you can give the ball to and he can create for himself and others. that's not who he is. at all.

in other words we need veterans who can play 25 in any regular season game and at least 15 mins in any playoff game...

Lowry
Caruso
Brogdon
Burton
Derozan
Hayward
Gallinari

only DeRozan could start of all of them in absence of Randle... and maybe Hayward and Caruso for 20 mins per game if we want to run a two PG starting lineups like in 2013

There were people making the AI/Brunson comparisons before but now we’re really going to turn into the Iverson 76ers teams. I know Thibs is going to start hart but he really should start grimes. Space the floor like crazy and spam Brunson PNR’s for 40’s mins a night.

Does Thibs insert Josh Hart into the SL and goes small ball or does he go with one of the bigs in Sims or Achiuwa? In the past he’s shown a preference to go big rather than small ball

With Randle out, it's Donte's opportunity to shine. Let's see what he can do as a shot creator.

We will definitely miss his offense and ability to draw in double teams. But overall we should be even better on defense. It's all gonna come down to who can step up and make up for the points. I see OG, Hart and DDivs production definitely increasing. IMO this is not as worrisome as losing Brunson would be.

SPECULATION: They have the MRI, they see a tear, and now they’re talking to more than one doctor about a plan of either rehab or surgery.

Julius will probably miss at least a month. Hopefully not much more than that.

Silver lining is this happened before the trade deadline, waiver deadline, and All Star Break. So we’ll have more options to add to the team and he should get some extra rest with the ASB.

Im not going to complain about the Obi trade now. I figured karma would see to it that after we barely played him and moved him for nothing Julius would get hurt though. Julius was an iron man for 3 years when they were together, and now this happens. Obi isnt perfect and a different player than Julius clearly, but he could have held the fort down enough for 25 mpg. However we did him a favor in moving him so this is moot. Maybe his bro Jacob will be called up to add depth at least.

Just gotta hope Julius can return in 1-2 months. Im sure we’ll make some sort of move if it’s serious, but time for OG, Donte, Grimes, and Deuce to pick up the scoring slack some more too.

We’re also still dealing with Isaiah not being 100%. Mitch is already out. Obi was jettisoned. Precious needs to keep playing decently as we’re super thin up front now.

I think he's done with Sims for the foreseeable future unless one of IHart or Achiuwa has to miss time.

He's already played OG at the 4 while Randle sits so I imagine he'll stick with that.

I wouldn't be shocked if it's Grimes that starts. Thibs gets very particular about certain people coming off the bench and that bench unit needs some juice. Grimes and Deuce aren't the most dynamic duo and at least Hart brings some transition ball handling to that group.

We're going to miss Julius a lot man... I wish this happened a little closer to the deadline so we could hope that Hayward would get bought out in a week or so instead of having to basically wait 2 and a half weeks.

How much time has to pass before Gallinari can be included in a trade package with other players? I thought he could only be traded by himself. I might be behind on the current CBA rules

Hate to say it but I think in the case of a flatout "postive" or "best case" type scenario we would have heard an update already. Really would make zero sense to delay such an update.
