I feel crazy because I don't see this as a needle mover. But it totally is ... isn't it?

Maybe they move into top 4-5 in the EC. Still not close to NY, CLE, or IND in terms of contention IMO. And the off season is just getting started...

KD doesn't want the pressure. The Knicks aren't letting Mikal walk either. You don't trade 5 FRPs for a rental or future cap space. This scenario will never happen.

For a guy like JJJ or Giannis I think that would not apply. They absolutely would let Mikal be the bridge for a player like that.

Why are these teams going to trade valuable players/franchise level players, for basically scraps? How does something like that work without a player forcing his way here? Several other teams can blow our offers away.

Until a player makes that commitment, any trade ideas should be realistic for everyone.

If Milwaukee trades Giannis they are gonna want a rebuild package. We can't help that.

If Memphis puts JJJ on the block, they are gonna want more than Bridges and scraps. They aren't gonna make a lateral move when they can get more.

People need to start focusing on the bench this summer. Our starting five is one of the best in the league. The rotations/minutes were a huge obstacle. Second to the systems we ran and some flat out terrible decision making.

Players like Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neal etc Teams looking to take little back to get cap relief. Much more realistic than the trades pushed around in here. KAT for Giannis? Why would Milwaukee want to do that? We don't have picks to sweeten deals no matter how equal we can match salaries.

Never say never though right? See OG/Mikal/KAT. Just trying to keep things a little more realistic for my expectations.

I believe Bridges is better than scraps. Much better. Him in combination with something else like a McBride, Hart or Mitch along with a pick or two (wedo have our 2026 #1 and many 2nds) can absolutely get us something.

It doesnt have to but it might....the concept of what a trade without him is still evident...just remove DDV and have a third team take a smaller salary while giving them minor 2nd round draft comp to counterbalance CBA rules.

or just forget about him.

Gotta bring da CAA NOVA KID BACK...especially since one may be on way out!!!

Totally agree!!!!!!

The CAA/Rose connection paid off for KAT. This is a slightly different scenario but may have even more impetus/leverage with JJJ also CAA and in last year of deal.

I have presented ad naseum withclear evidence why that is a lazy and false narrative .At this point people want to hang on to narrow views justfor the sake of it.

Windhorst on ESPN already hinting more moves could be on way...JJJ and Ja? Some reddittors think they will trade JJJ next and keep Ja.

Bane is a great fit in ORL but that was definitely an overpay. Orlando will be top 3 in the East.

The KAT/JJJ perfect complement and counter-balance frontcourt has more value to us than Mikal Bridges (especially since we have OG).

Bridges is being severely undervalued by some members of a fan base that doesn't recognize him being 3rd/4th option and run non stop into screens as a POA defender didn't not maximize his skill set.

Smart teams know a whole lot more than the average fan. Bridges still has plenty of value in this league.

If JJJ pushes for NyK like KAT did we absolutely have a chance.

Durant's list of preferred trade destinations contains three teams. Yet it almost had four.
The Stein Line has learned that the Knicks also would have featured on that list but were ultimately omitted when New York made it clear that it has decided against pursuing a trade for the NBA's No. 8 all-time leading scorer.

I don't think there were many teams competing for KAT while having to match his supermax contract less than a year removed from knee surgery, approaching 30 years old and the question marks about building around him. There was a reason the Knicks were able to get him for the price they did. JJJ who is 4 years younger and is only being paid $23M is much easier to match and will be in much higher demand if made available imo even on expiring contract.

This Bane move could signal a reshuffling of the team that could include JJJ moving out or it could just put the Grizzlies in a better position to retain JJJ with the cap savings from removing Banes contract. They are also in position this year where they could possibly renegotiate this final year of JJJ's contract at a higher number with their cap space. Utah did it last year with Lauri renegotiating his final year with cap space from $18M to $42M and then extending him from that higher number.

I'm not really sure I would see the point of Memphis trading Banes away for picks and a wing player and then trading JJJ for Bridges while still having to worry about losing Bridges in the off-season.

I do like the fit of KAT and JJJ in many ways but I also realize the Knicks might live in the penalty with those 2 foul magnets on the court at the same time :D

I know we're all hoping the Knicks improve their roster but don't know if BIG moves are the way to go. IF we had had a better coach and/or IF Bridges had been the pre- shot mechanics change Bridges... we'd be playing in the Finals. More so than anything else, I'm hoping Bridges can get his shot back along with getting a good coach. If we can say add Horford and Beasley... let's run this ish back

New Orleans is a team we need to be reaching out to as a trade partner.

That raises the point, who will defend POA if Mikal is traded.? He did it because Brunson can't guard the quick guys at his position. The year before it was DDV and Deuce off the bench. I don't think Deuce becomes a starter just to guard POA though
