Kolek's passing ability has always looked special and that one dime, the bounce pass? so sweet. He is the best passer on our team. Hope he can establish himself as a prime backup not only on the knicks but in general. Hes fun to watch

I honestly expected a way higher pace. I dont know if its the opening night jitters or if the players just dont think that fast. But it seemed like the only people actively pushing up ahead were kolek, mikal and deuce. Too many times people were jogging into the offense, if you ask me.

I mean, i dont mind which philosophy or playstyle we are going to play with but if we want to be the fastest team in the league, we gotta step up a lot in that regard. Im affraid our players are not the kind of players that play super fast naturally. Mostly brunson and kat.

Also OG played 38, fire mike brown please! Running him into the ground... i cant believe it.
im bout dat action boss

Thibs' 7-man rotation, playing starters 40 minutes, and KEEPING them in the game with 2 minutes left and the game already won was suicidal. His choice to keep a guy like Kolek glued to the bench for no apparent reason was idiotic. Coach Brown fixed all that in 1 night -- and it worked.

Good win!!

Yep. This team was being held back. I'm glad the front office pivoted towards modern, common sense basketball

I love Kolek but he was a +2. McBride was the one who was +17.

Tyler keeps the ball moving and have great vision. Which is why I wanted to draft him.

I would do the same but you’re forgetting Deuce exists though. So they will have to play 3 guards and still leave someone out or get creative with the splits between Kolek/Deuce and Clarkson/Shamet

And then I’m not sure where Hart gets placed when he comes back. It seems like they’re intent to start towns at the 4 with another big, so if that’s the case Hart will be playing off the bench and surely would be the backup 3. And at PG and SG a mix of 2 of those 4. But from what we saw at least for now he’s content with a bench time share. I could see it being something like Deuce Clarkson Hart (yabu, huk/mitch)

One of OG most complete games as a Knick. 14 rebounds from him was really unexpected and needed with hart and Mitch out. They were mostly contested rebounds too! Also felt like this was Mikal’s best 48 minutes defensively as a knick. I know he’s had big plays in other games but that was always for a possession or a quarter. I haven’t been a kolek believer and he at least proved me wrong tonight. Seems like something clicked with him during that Washington preseason game and had his best game in his career. Kat was an absolute warrior playing on a grade 2 calf strain. Funny that the guys brought in that bolster the bench were the worst guys in the rotation. Even worse than the 2 way guy.

It was a timeout and Kolek came back in I was in complete shock. Give me some time, this is fun.

It worked out nicely last night but it was very bold of Brown to keep that bench unit out there in the 3rd when Donovan was cooking everyone. Good job by the bench slowing down the onslaught but I Could def something like that biting ass at some point.

A lot of people were so concerned about the lack of rebounding playing 5 out (which we did for like half the game) without Mitch or Hart starting, but with both of them out, and against a top 2 rebounding frontcourt, we beat them on the boards 48-32

The upside of expanding the rotation is Mike Brown will probably end up establishing some trade value for some of our younger cheap guys.

Could really push us over the finish line next offseason in Giannis trade talks.

I feel like we need a knock down sniper to demoralize teams. Deuce and OG was hitting but I want a guy known for knocking it down. Especially with Kolek creating offense.

Clarkson as our Jcraw or Hubert Davis, when we lack the firepower or when everything fails, we may ride with him if he goes off.

problem with that is clarkson doesn’t seem to be very good at shot making any more

Clarkson was never that great in shot making. He is a microwave scorer ... for me I'm not even going to look at his FG % this year. It's him getting 10+ points every night when our starters are on the bench. The bench gave us 35 points tonight, we averaged 22 last year.

I wish we kept Garrison Mathews somehow if we're going down with injuries like that.

We could really use a 3&d wing with size off the bench.

Been hoping that 3pac or even Mo can be that guy.

So that is what it looks like when the coach makes adjustments on the fly huh?

The Knicks looked good on both sides in spurts. This is just the experimenting process right now but there were bright spots.

OG is going to thrive in this faster pace, catch and shoot system. He can have an All Star season.

Not a great shooting night for JB but got to the line and stabilized in crunch time like he does.

Deuce is progressing as a player. He will force Brown to keep him on the floor. Has anyone noticed that Deuce is always the one to hit a big shot when the other team is on a run to kill their momentum?

small sample size alert.

Outside of the starting 5 (which was more of less a net neutral) the next best lineup with the 2nd highest minutes played was.........

who absolutely wiped the floor with the cavs last night :D

for reference that lineup above only played 41 minutes in total all of last year together (it played 7 minutes by Brown in the 1st game).

Also extremely noticable look at the pace we played at with that unit compared to the starters with 2 bigs.

The fact we have a HC unafraid to go deep into the bench, makes me feel like JHart should just get the surgery on his finger done now. Get it over with and come back ready for the playoffs. That would allow him to rest his back too. Makes too much sense. Why aren’t they opting to go this route?
