Now MB is not NBA head coach. Unless organization is going for no more than 20 wins.
MB is a decent assistant coach. As a "players coach", to run practices.
As a head coach? Inept and obsolete. Lost during 48 minutes of live NBA game.

Dolan meddled in and fired Thibs. He put Leon rose in a really bad spot because he was planning to keep him. Leon rose had zero plan to replace Thibs so.. now we have no choice but to settle for Mike Brown.

It’s 5 games

Anyone want to take a guess how the Pacers started last year?

Or how we started last year? Lol

It's crazy that Thibs was a .500 or below coach months into 4 of his 5 seasons here yet Mike Brown has ruined everything Thibs has built in 5 games in some people's eyes. Last year was the only season they didn't get off to a slow start and even then they basically racked up a ton of wins against the bottom of the league while being average against the middle of the pack and winless against the top teams.

I don't know if Brown is an improvement or not. It's been 5 games! I think the bigger issue as they did nothing to actually address the roster issues other than increasing the name recognition of the bench. I can't blame Brown for the roster construction. He wasn't even hired in time to choose anyone other than Shamet for basically the last spot.

I suspect that the MSG crowd is going to be a little grouchy tomorrow night. It’ll be interesting to see how they react if we get blown out.

The season has ended again?

They've played maybe 2.5 good quarters of basketball in 3 road games. There were some good things done last night, but they started too late.

Not just the Coaching change but now it seems it's all every player for themeselves and THEIR salary over everything else.

It's not just Brown but add in Kat and his rep stretching from Minny to NYC and now, of all people, Josh.

It feels like were on the road to becoming the old Sacramento Kings.

Yeah….

Maybe they can hold a players only meeting or something and find their balls again. There’s always room for optimism because we already have proof the talent is there

The talent may be there but the Heart is missing (you could also make bad puns and say Hart and Ihart are missing).

It may not be fair, but it seems the demise started with getting KAT (and losing the Ihart defense; though it seems they had not choice BUT to lose him). Still they could have gotten some kind of semi-crakerjack D center to pair with Mitch? somehow?

I'm a Nova fan (full disclosure) but those guys brought a ready-made Jay Wright culture core and championship expectations that merged well with Thibs' culture. Now it seems like...well, the old Divac Kings.

And also losing DD and then THibs (for all his faults, his STUBBORN faults) ... it just seems unmendable as long as Kat dilutes the D and Brown just collects a paycheck. I mean, Fizdale could have done that.

Will Dolan/Leon pull the trigger if we max out at 42 wins and a play-in loss?

Yeah well, Thibs was fired so all that clearly wasn't enough for some folk.

Count me in the "coaching impact is overblown" camp. Last year we were .500 through 12 games and only got over .500 when we played three games against bad teams (Bulls, Nets x 2). KAT was meh early last year too. I have zero faith that KAT will somehow turn into a consistently strong defender, but I also have zero doubt his offense will pick up meaningfully from his current 37% / 30% level. No way we're winning games at his current level of offensive production. We forget this guy used to get 40 points games without trying.

Didn't the reports say that Leon Rose was the one who wanted Thibs out?

I honestly think Dolan would have supported Leon if Leon wanted Thibs back.

Pretty much same goes for Josh Hart, but at the end of the day, he's a role player. I think his minutes will continue to hover at this 15-20mpg mark until he can start finding his footing. The pace of the offense should be good for him, plenty of transition opportunities, but he's not looking to take advantage and he's struggling on the defensive boards for some reason. There will be a point in the season where things click, and we'll start seeing Josh Hart coast to coast drives and wonder why or who ever doubted the guy. Again. Happens every season.

Considering he was only brought in July he’s done a really good job of establishing the tempo and flow of how the Knicks should look come playoff (ball movement, quickening up the pace).

Obviously we look inconsistent because players have habits built in from last season and prior, which is why expecting them to look immediately fantastic is……interesting. We have a flawed roster & I don’t think we have the youngest group of guys running the floor or players that are known for exclusively running full court offense/defenses. It’s a work in progress while getting real game experience from opposing NBA teams.

Only reason anyone would have massive issues with what’s going on is because they have an agenda they don’t want to admit or they watch sports like it’s a fantasy league. It really might be after the ASB they look like a good/great team.

Maybe the Nets will consolidate guys like Ja, Terry, Miles Bridges and recreate the Jailblazers?

Eh I see more passion than anything and honestly with the pace Mike Brown is trying to run, Ja would be perfect it.

I have conflicted thoughts and it’s all with his playing style. His off the court stuff are issues but if you can help win a title, fu*k it.

Ja’s playmaking would put life into this team, the team is also missing some of the **** you attitude Randle and DDV played with, Ja would bring that. He plays defense with energy to the point he hovers around average to solid on that end. He does have issues with shooting (no pun intended) and his athleticism makes him iffy if he was to suffer an injury. He’s a good rebounder and gets active steals.

Could be worth a look if its reasonable.

Clearly not. I ate rainbows and gumdrops and typed all that because I was bored, is this the serious reply that you’re looking for?
