The Gorillaz "Plastic Beach" is the best album I've heard in a long time.
Takes a few listens to get there.

Earl Greyhound, a product from NY has a 70's influence to their songs with a taste of grunge. Grown up rock.

Led Zeppelin reincarnated. Voice reminds me of Robert Plant. Saw these guys live. Best $10 I ever spent.

Kind of sounds like Incubus.

Sooooo good live. Seems like everytime you watch a movie, tv show, or commercials you hear their music.

Sufjan Stevens, I thought his last CD was good but I really didn't see why it got so much hype/acclaim as it did. The age of Adz to some was the best CD of the year which kind of amazes me.

I can't get into the Age of Adz either. I need to listen to it more but it just sounds too different. I'm all for artists changing their sounds and all but it just seemed too experimental. I dunno I have to keep listening to it I guess.

Great. I remember a long time ago (it was in the previous indie rock thread I think) you asked for some new music and I advised you to listen to The Magnetic Fields and 69 Love Songs in particular. Stephen Merritt is a genius. Do you know Spiritualized ? If not I suggest "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space".
The National has stepped into the spot previously occupied by the Magnetic Fields in my poetic/melancholic playlist. Not quite as mind-blowing as Magnetic Fields, but some of it is incredible. I'm sure I'm not the first person to post this in these threads. But this song and video are special:

I played the Black Keys Live movie every night at bedtime for like a year. Earl Greyhound was fantastic. I'm going to download a bunch now. That Robert Plant voice is eerie. Didn't care for the Incubus sounding band. Don't know why, but I **** hate Sufjan.
Here's another epic song from the last couple years, fairly well known:

For some reason bands like Manchester Orchestra sort of falls in with Epitaph Records and Victory Records. For some reason aside from a few bands, they all that that same certain type of sound to me.

Bayside, Ill Nino, The Sleeping, Everytime I Die are a few that I do like. You can add in Triple Crown Records in with this group to me as well, again only a few bands that stand out to me.

Mon the Biff!

I really dig this song by Biffy:

And Company Of Thieves is good. Nice clean sound, confident. I like the girl's voice, too.

And even though they're rock stars now, I really like 'Pyro' by Kings Of Leon.

Jagga's 'Modern Day Romance' is cool. Reminds me of TTD.

Naked And Famous, 'Punching In A Dream':

I hear a lot of this stuff listening to XFM out of London and Phantom 105.2 out of Dublin.

Yet to listen to their entire new album, but sounds good so far
They have a single out now in UK with Robert Smith from the Cure singing lead.

Smith should ask to join that band. He hasn't sounded that good in years.

Re: OT: Indie Rock Thread- Part II
Iron & Wine came out with a new album recently. I don't know if I would consider them indie, but its good stuff. I always have a hard time with bands when they evolve, but I dig the little bit of jazz and vocal distortion in the new album.
