Portis is a bucket but Knox’s ceiling is at the 4.
But it should take Knox a few years to be able to be a 4.
Portis would make sense on a shorter deal - in the no max cats or one max cat scenario, I guess.
But I bet you prefer Randle!

they can't keep beverly. he even admits they would have to re-sign beverly with leftover cash but there isn't enough. he's getting decent sized offers.

C'mon man.

This is how it works:
The Nets, Knicks, Clippers, whoever else has two max cat room - all of them did a good thing to get where they are as teams. All of them exist on some location of a rebuild. Obviously the Clippers did the best, getting the playoffs in the west, then Nets, by virtue of the playoffs (even in the crappy east) then Knicks. One team will win out.
THEN the sportswriters will spin this narrative of the superlative job the "winner" did, and how the other teams failed, particularly if one is the Knicks.
It just can't simply be, they did ok, then one team won out, for whatever reason. I don't mind attempts to explain why, to the extent it matters, but we all know it just gets carried away. More than anything, that's annoying.
