Great deal IMO. The team option is a nice thing in case he has another year like last year. If not, it's a 1 year deal.

Rumors were that the Dodgers and Angels offers were in the 8 year $290-300 million range. And the talk was that once the Yankees upped it to 9 years Cole and team didn't bother even going back to the Dodgers and Angels with the Yanks offer. All things equal it sure looked like Cole wanted to be a Yankee.

We need at least one more starter IMO.

1 World Series and it was worth it.

Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4....

So what's next?

We test the Samson theory with another long haired flame thrower at the peak of his excellence?

It's clear that Cashman is trying to set the Yankees up so that they have a foundation for a long time to come and won't have to worry about losing anyone else to free agency once the anticipated new collective bargaining agreement in 2021 increases the tax levels and salaries spike up even further as a result.

You add 25 year old Hader as the long term closer with Cole and Severino heading your starters and you're set with the foundation of your pitching roster.

The Yankees still have a pretty well stocked farm system, though a lot of it seems be in A and maybe AA level. Still, since some of their core is young, there won't be spots for all of them, and of course not all work out, but there still seems to be some excess of quality that could be put together for a young closer, even if it takes 3 or 4 prospects of different levels, but I'd assume at least one would be a fairly top pitching prospect

Milwaukee can keep Hader. I don't need that racist, homophobic dude on the team I root for.

And no, I don't care that he was a teenager at the time. It's not like bigotry is a biological part of puberty or something.

I forgot he was that dude.

He'd melt down in the NYC metro area.

Forgot Hader had those racist tweets.

I remember his half ass apology too.

I’m not digging the Yankees interest in him either.

I really hope we can resign Betances, but have a feeling he will end up on the Dodgers they will offer way more money and give him the closer role.

I guess kids have to stay kids forever and could never grow up and mature. We should burn every teenager that said/did something stupid because they will be idiots forever. Sounds great.

I never said any of that, but alright.

I stand by my initial post and strongly disagree with your idea that being a racist is somehow part of being a "kid".

I really do understand what you're communicating, for the record. I just disagree about the severity of the transgression, if you will.
