This is one of the guys I want in this draft. If he's there at 25, he a must. I'd love to replace Knox with this guy -- he'd be an upgrade in every area.

- Draft Daniel Oturu at 5. He's 20/11.5/2.5 right now and I could easily see that in the pros within 3 years. A center that does everything well/will impact all areas, offensively and defensively.
- Draft Saddiq Bey at 25 or try to hatch out a way to use 25 and another asset or two to move up the ladder a little to get him a little earlier.
- Draft Devon Dotson at 35, or again, add an asset and/or cash to move up slightly to get him a little earlier. I don't see any of the PGs expected to go top lottery in this draft as franchise altering. Dotson, meanwhile, is good value with our 2nd rounder. I think he compares favorably to Cole Anthony in a lot of ways when you compare each.

- I'd look to trim a little excess off this roster somehow -- guys that don't fit, aren't working out and don't feel long-term: any combination of Knox, Payton, DSJr., Frank, Iggy B. would all be on the table to trade, up to me. I'd love to free up some roster space for the 3 players in the draft above and one particular cost-effective FA (see below).

- Resign Daymean Dotson AND Allonzo Trier, THEN PLAY THEM next year! Another must for me. Up to me, Rose needs to mend the fence with both guys and tell them they're wanted here. Both of these guys should be locking down our SG spot for the next 10+ years. We don't have a lot of players already on the roster that could be part of the long-term solution outside of Mitch and Barrett, but i think Dotson and Trier could be as well. Just praying Rose sees this as well and can convince both guys to come back.

- Move RJ Barrett to the 3 -- this would free up the SG spot for Dot and Zo. Dot/Zo and Barrett/Saddiq Bey would be a very nice combination out on the wing. Plus, I'd like to see Barrett facing 3s on a steady basis. I don't think his offense would suffer at all and I think it may help him on D guarding slightly bigger/slightly slower players compared to most 2Gs who routinely get past him way too easily.

- Pick up Portis' option -- it's a lot of money but only for 1 final year. If I could do what I want in the draft (namely drafting Oturu), then bringing back Portis for another year to further solidify the frontline would make sense to me. Oturu, Randle, Mitch, Portis and Gibson would be a nice big man nucleus next year.

- Invite Issuf Sanon to summer league. I looked at a lot of video and like what I see. I hope the Knicks see the same and want to get a closer look in summer league. Maybe he's an option.

- If I succeeded in trimming a couple of players that don't work, I'd consider adding Gary Payton II to a cost effective deal. I don't think he'd cost much and would make for an adequate/above average bench guard overall. i still actually see a higher ceiling with him too -- what he does do well (defense, athleticism, excitement), he does extremely well. I think he'd be a real shrewd, impactful signing, esp. given the fact that he shouldn't cost too much. He could help us.

Far from a finished project, don't even know if this would be a playoff roster yet, but i think this is a good start.

Solid and interesting post. However I have some points of contention.

For one I'm not lumping Frank in with the non contributers you mentioned. His game has evolved too much in the last several weeks.

Shooting, handle, and most importantly aggression have all improved by leaps and bounds. If the trajectory contimues, he could turn out to be a bonafide starter. This is coming from someone who just about gave up on Frank.

No way do I keep both trier and Dotson. Even if rj was moved to the three...I think we should move on from one..not sure which one though...

Your plan doesn't include moving Randle. He gotta go..especially if we draft another big. And I don't think Randle is trash overall. He's just trash for us and he kinda slows development for our young bigs and fcks up our tank(s) imo.

Was hoping to see step back jumpers and off the dribble shooting from Mitch on those old videos.

I like Mitch but he is not nearly as physically imposing as Wiseman is and his efficiency will take a hit in the playoffs once players in opposing teams step up the effort.

The advantage we had with Wiseman is that we did not only watch the mixtapes but also took time to see the interviews made about him with not only his high school coach but as well as his high school teacher. That gives us a glimpse on his psyche and why he could be great. Also helps to see that he is one guy who takes criticisms constructively and really works on his weaknesses.

Yep. I even watched him play live when he was still in high school. This was one of the games. Peep the step backs and the fade aways hes making. Mitch never had those moves in his arsenal.

If the Knicks end up with the 1st overall pick it's honestly going to be hard to pass up on James Wiseman. Doesn't mean we should take Wiseman, but you don't want to be the team that passes on Wiseman and then see him reach his potential in a few years. If everyone reaches their max potential, Wiseman hands down would be the most dominant player of the group. If that alpha personality is in there somewhere (he's more of a beta+ right now) and comes out, he's going to be scary. You put him in an NBA conditioning regimen, get him to grow into his own skin and he's going to be able to do things no other big right now can. That's all I'm saying here.

My thing about taking Wiseman is, how many good teams are built offensively around dominant bigs?

You have the Nuggets, the Sixers, and arguably the Pacers and Magic (who I'm really stretching the definition of "good" here), and that's it.

Even with guys like KAT and AD, it's been really a struggle for teams to build consistent good teams around them

So for me, I think it'd be better for us to roll with Mitch and use our pick on a good wing/guard prospect. The issue, of course, being that there really isn't a great prospect in this draft. Maybe Anthony Edwards, or LaMelo if you're really high on him, but I think Wiseman is clearly BPA

I'd take Edwards over Wiseman, but that's about it. If nobody offers a godfather deal, just take Wiseman then

Jokic, Vuc and Sabonis are playmaking bigs.

AD is a former guard, who has great handling and playmaking skills. Besides he shoots the 3.

Embiid is also a good playmaking and a fair outside shooter.

Kat is a really great outside shooter.

Wiseman is a tradicional Big. For now, he is looks more like Mitch, Drummond and Ayton.

I do think Wiseman its way more likely to go #1 then #8. Really depends on how the order works out.
