Well - I can tell you who lost running on M4A: Kara Eastman in NE-02 (a district Biden won).

Outside of all those super safe districts, might as well just look at everyone AOC endorsed instead via her PAC:

1) Georgette Gomez (CA-53): LOST. Ran against Sara Jacobs (Dem) in jungle election. Jacobs is more pragmatic progressive than anything.

2) Kara Eastman (NE-02): LOST

3) Marie Newman (IL-03): WON, although remember that this is a SUPER SAFE district and this was SO MUCH closer than it needed to be

4) Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-02): WON, but also super safe district.

5) Jamaal Bowman (NY-16): WON, but also super safe district.

6) Mondaire Jones (NY-17): WON, but also super safe district.

7) Paula Jean Swearingen (WV Senate): LOST, but also super red district.

8) Cori Bush (MO-01): WON, but also super safe district.

9) Mike Seigel (TX-10): LOST, but also super red district.

10) Marquita Bradshaw (TN Senate): LOST, but also wasn't really close.

So of 10 candidates, a 5-5 record. All 5 are super safe districts. As for that list you may see on Twitter, they also fall under the same category.

I knew it wasn’t clear cut because it’s such a simplistic statement. Thanks for providing that because I sure as hell know stupor isn’t going to.

Oh how convenient to use the narrow definition of “swing seat”. You care to show data to back up the numbers?

It goes to show how much voters hatred of Trump mobilized them in this election.

Lol you didn’t read the article

Black Biden voters were much more likely than other Biden voters — especially those who were white — to say they were casting their ballots for the Democrat rather than against Trump, according to AP VoteCast.

Looks like Biden's "good friend on the other side of the aisle" - Mitch McConnell - is supporting Trump's efforts to undermine the election. But I'm sure that once this is all over with, Mitch will agree to work with good ol' Joe, his good friend, so that together they will move America forward. It'll be just fcking great. :noway:

Spoke to an ex today. We marched on Washington together against the first Iraq war.

She lost her brother-in-law to covid. I knew him.

She and her husband and kids all got it.

So I was surprised to see how little thought she gives politics at all now. Lots of the dreary all political parties are bad mantra and it is just a pendulum swinging back and forth and now its the Democrats turn. Both-Side-ism writ large

She had nothing positive to say about Biden winning to the point I suspect she voted Republican. She didn't consider Trump a fascist or a vote for him supporting fascism. It could just be a vote for lower taxes, etc.

Anyway, it felt like I was talking to America when I spoke to her. Just sort of disinterested in general, but somehow strongly disinterested in the implications of authoritarian rule as if the parallells to Nazi Germany are just some kind of paranoid fiction.

It was sad to hear both on account of her relative passing from covid, but also the apathy in general.

What's with this baby talk that Mitch is his friend?

Biden will say whatever he has to say. Saying he gets along with guys on the other side of the aisle is just a convenient white lie he feels works at this time.

You think he doesn't know Mitch is Darth Vader in turtle drag? Of course he does

But Biden is smart enough not to bait them. That's what he's doing. Not giving them any additional emotional tinder to set his presidency on fire with

Who cares if they lie and cheat and steal and are crapping all over Biden already? Of course they are. This is the GOP. They play dirty, It's the DNA

Should Biden play dirty? Yes, but not like that. He's not feeding a base of trolls and he's not falling for their trap by being so damn reactive. You're the one being reactive and judging Biden for some really pointless criticism. I thought you were going to save your smoke for the first 100 days, then evaluate. Stop falling for the easiest, stupid things like crapping on Biden for saying nice things about Republicans. He's better at this than you. He knows exactly why he is saying these things and it is not because he wants to spoon Mitch on a warm Kentucky night

Stop being so fcking literal minded. Geezus

Did you forget the Obama years already? Anyhow, you'll see. When have these guys ever thrown down the gauntlet? I'll tell you when. Never. We always get our asses handed to us by McConnell even when we win. Why is time going to be different? Please, win me over.

So you either can provide context or you’re just repeating a stupid talking point that you saw off twitter. It should be hard to point it the districts who backed Medicare for all and won re-election and tell me if they D+ or R+

stuporman wrote: You have no problem accepting the centrists assertion even defending it here in this thread but want some sort of proof from me? How about you provide some proof the premise progressives hurt centrists first because that is the assertion that is without evidence at this point. Oh and negative political ads isn't proof of anything but....

If you actually bothered reading what I’ve written or anything other posters that agree with you have written is that both things can be true. I’m sure that there were candidates that would have lost because they ran awful campaigns. And I’m sure there were candidates that ran good campaigns and still lost. You can’t blame Progressives for every loss, just like you can’t blame who you call Centrists for the legitimate concerns of having their races nationalized over bs. Here’s a clip of what Spanberger was saying. She explained that if you don’t literally mean defunding the police, then explain your ideas in a way that means putting more money into social services or improving community engagement. I believe AOC is right too that some members just ran poor campaigns but the party is a big tent and they need to learn to work together as a team because nothing anyone wants will get passed if they lose Congress.

stuporman wrote: Mark Kelly won in a traditionally red state even though it barely went blue for the Presidential race this cycle it even picked up a couple of republicans in down ticket races. They ran all those same attack ads there about him, you would have thought he was the CEO of antifa the way they painted him yet he won the senate seat.

Well there’s a big difference between winning statewide in a states that trending Dem +1 and winning in a R+ district. And Mark Kelly’s opponent being total dog **** helped him and also this example actually goes against your point. Mark Kelly distanced himself from the Progressive wing of the party pretty sharply. Mark Kelly was insulted because he had heavy Democratic counties propping him up, something other candidates in house races don’t have.

https://www.azfamily.com/news/politics/arizona_politics/kelly-distances-himself-from-progressive-wing-of-the-democratic-party/article_04daf238-9499-11e9-9f22-3f5e78fd9451.html
He took a strong stand against policies pushed by some the key left-wing figures in Congress.

stuporman wrote: So how about you search for your proof because I don't owe you anything, the claim is progressives hurt centrists and it was made and defended by centrists, the burden of proof is on them.

And btw. Nice edit after telling me to eat a bag of dicks. Don’t worry, you’re not going to hurt my feelings but it’s not going to stop me from asking you to back up your claims. Show me the districts where the candidates that signed onto M4A won on.

All I've seen is people support the idea and what they think about it yet without any actual evidence that progressive policies made centrists lose. Bring the evidence but don't tell me to read everything people are writing because I have read quite a bit of it and there's nothing showing what they are saying, just their personal or borrowed reasoning for their belief it is that way.

You want to criticize me for talking points off twitter? What do you have other than that? Nothing. Spanberger use to be in CIA, she's a spook and a war mongering neoliberal that hasn't met a corporate donor she doesn't like so is quite bought out by the establishment and she despises progressives which makes her opinion is pretty unconvincing....it's just her opinion.

I pointed out Kelley because he is a centrist dem in a traditionally red state that yea it went blue by 1 point this cycle as you seem to think is so relevant so mentioned it but he outperformed it which you also seem to think is a relevant thing when it suits your opinion. McSally is terrible but terrible republicans win all over the place because republicans vote for republicans even if terrible.

This is evidence that directly contradicts the point that is being made so now you have to come up with evidence that goes above and beyond this. My point is explaining the strength of progressives even in swing districts so it's time for you to come up with some actual evidence of your own, not negative ads or butthurt centrist's opinions, something that supports the claim made.

I did write that at you and then thought better. When you through shade at me in a comment to someone else that quotes me in it and then come asking me for something then I think you must be hungry so needed a snack or a nap or something. Although, I decided to remove it right away because I didn't want to escalate any ill will even though you started it with your own comment.

My apologies for that.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.
