It’s like your gf breaking up with you and then you call her up 2 weeks later and say nah I am breaking up with you.

I don't know if they explicitly came out and said they are trading him. But they did chang there tune that they are willing to listen on him rather than building around him. Which is pretty much what you are suggesting but I guess its not definite enough that I suppose they could pull back and say no deals makes sense for them at this time.

Ainge has had a history of that.

You must realize that if somehow some team finds a way to offer a package that actually competes with what we are offering, the first thing Ainge will do, is leak it so that he gets a bidding war started and drives up the price. It's not like a team will swoop in without us knowing.

And the cost of this bidding war, will only be to get us to offer what he wants right now anyway - he wants all of our picks and grimes obi and iq.

The odds that this "other team" makes a comparable offer are extremely low. So, there is no reason not to wait so that Ainge faces the reality of going into the season with Donovan - and Donovan getting upset - his tank in jeopardy.

At which point he may come down to making a trade that is closer to what he got from the wolves = 3 unprotected, 1 protected, a swap, and a young (or sub another protected).

All these new teams being added into the mix is just Ainge trying to get Leon Rose to bite.

Those 6 interested teams are laughable.

Either people are lying or stupid and since it's this forum I suspect they're both.

My guess is both.

Then I don't want Mitchell.

Can't completely empty the cupboard unless it's to compete for a title.

I do. I like Brown but the thing about Boston players is that they excel in their system and are quite average in others. Do you trust Thibs to coach similar to Ime? I don't know.

The Knicks don't have the assets to get someone that can near guarantee them to compete for a title.

Its actually funny to see the difference in what the media protrays teams need to give up in order to get KD and then what the KNicks need to give up to get Mitch

if you didnt know any better you would think that Mitch is a much better player

Brown is a young 2-way guy who was rumored to want out of BOS. He has winning playoff experience and has come up big on the big stage several times. Would be a nice get IMO, especially if we can't get Spida. Brown slots in nicely next to Brunson and RJ.

Brunson, RJ, Brown, Randle (or Obi), Mitch (or Hart)

...very solid, young team. Which should also leave us with more assets left over than if we get Spida.

I can’t see the Jazz going back now and moving forward with Mitchell long term. I can’t remember a star getting dangled like this and not being traded. If Mitchell came out and demanded a trade i don’t see things changing too much. It seems like it’s only a matter of time….but just could take some time,

Exactly! Shams repeated Ainge Ransom demands in his article of 8 first round picks, Ob, IQ, and Grimes. The knicks have a collection of draft picks there is no reason why they need to give up their entire future for Donovan. Its clear Ainge whats to sabotage them in the deal and or pull off a great offer than what the timberwolves did to add to his own legend of trade robberies. The Knicks need to stay away unless the deal makes sense.

I’m laughing at Toronto being thrown into this. Can you imagine the hard ball that Masai would try to play with Ainge. That deal would take forever and we all know Barnes ain’t going anywhere.

In addition to picks I guess the centerpiece would be OG or Trent? I mean Gary Trent can ball a little, was way up their in deflections and is only 23. But he’s also overrated in a sense to me. He’s a 15FG 18 PPG kind of player with relatively limited playmaking and has never shown a propensity for getting to the FT line. He just had a 53.5% TS on Toronto and has always been insanely streaky.

OG is good wing, can play both ways and I believe recently signed a 4 year deal with Toronto (maybe has 3 years left).

This is all just a ton of smoke at the end of the day. Danny just wants the Knicks to cave and I cannot picture Donovan forcing his way here. He’s just not that kind of guy.

Isn't it funny the report of ''6 teams interested'' in Mitchell comes out right after news of the Celtics offer for KD? lol

Deeeez Knicks wrote:Dolan always wants his stars that he can sell and Leon was brought in to bring in stars. There should be no doubt there is pressure on the front office to deliver. Mitchell being local and going to Rangers games I am sure has Dolans attention.

Sure fair point---BUT Ainge does have much more pressure than some fans want to admit (in hopes of getting a deal done soon). Ainge took a 50+ win team (First seed in 20/21) and teared it down with the main purpose of having a top 5 (probably top 3) in a historically loaded draft. Trading Gobert but then starting the season with a disgruntled Mitchell who plays them out of the top 5 is gonna hurt his Plan big time. The Jazz have zero intention to start the season with Mitchell. Ainge IMO has not gotten the green light to gut a 50+ win team in a small market for a bordeline top 10 pick. His plan is clear--he wants that high 2023 pick---the only way to maximize his odds at it is to trade Mitchell during the offseason. Even 2 months of steller play by Mitchell could completely destroy his plans at a top 5 pick next year. He can't walk to the Jazz owner and say: "ooops sorry I traded away a playoff team and two all-stars for the ninth pick in the upcoming draft." ----That simply ain't happening. He will trade Mitchell before the season starts---he does have pressure to deal him.
