That's a pipe dream that failed once, and it will in all likelihood fail again.

With how week the East is, you should be able to make it to the second round if you get healthy. And while you have Anthony in his prime and Chandler, you have no option but to compete. If Anthony was the only max contract it would make sense to trade him and start over, but what would be the point of doing so with Chandler, Stoudamire and Bargnani still around? If you do try to rebuild, what would be the chances of getting studs such as Anthony and Chandler? Do you think Atlanta really has a better team? I do not. All you need to do is go small even if it means benching veterans on big salaries.

If I were coaching NY I would start Chandler, Anthony, Smith, Shumpert and Felton with Bargnani, Hardaway and Prigioni off the bench. I would cut both MWP and Martin and sign one young stud in their place. Keep one roster place open.

Lowry not that good. He's an average point guard. But Felton is a below average point guard and beno and Pablo are only good for coming off the bench

sad reality: every Nets win pushes Dolan closer to doing something stupid.

I meant a bench wormer. Not a rotation player.

Why would he make the All Star team after not having come close to making it in any of his 7 previous seasons in the NBA? And not part of your plan age wise? He's only 27...and if what you guys are saying is true...an top group PG. Those don't grow on trees. And why if age 27 is not part of the future, then did the Raptors trade for Greivis Vasquez who is 26?

If the Knicks go on a major run heading towards the ASG and he's a big part of it, I think the NY media hype could get him in. I'm pretty sure Vasquez isn't part of the future plans of the team either. as much as I would have liked to make the playoffs, it looks like we're actually going to be tanking for the first time since 02-03. BC never tanked, he was just an idiot who couldn't see that his teams sucked all these years and refused to believe it and kept trying for the 8th seed.

What would you rather do? Lose Lowery for nothing or take back felton for two more years? We will have to pay to get lowry AND move felton.

I honestly don't care about reaching the second round in a year in which Miami and Indiana are two virtual locks(barring injuries) to make it to the ECF. I'm thinking long term here, and not just building a second round fodder team for the next 5 years. Amar'e and Bargs come off the books in 2015 I believe. We'd have a ton of cap space for 2015, plus some assets(if we were to get something for Melo and Chandler). To me that's a start. But in reality, Dolan would never commit to a plan like that because he just renovated the Garden and needs to put butts in the seats. It's too ballsy for him to even consider. Plus he would basically be conceding that the Melo plan was a failure.

BTW Smith shouldn't be starting for any NBA team. Smith blows and is a complete headache both on and off the court. Don't let his SMOTY award fool you. He's regressed badly this year and is back to his same old habits and tricks.

its a passionate fan base... and really we havent had much to cheer about in a long time. If you check our threads its pretty pro tank. The thought of dumping Lowry to help the tank is exciting. No hard feelings against Knicks fans... our GM has just pulled your pants down a few times and its holding this deal back. Im sure they will find a way to get something fair done

You've believed in the Tooth Fairy and Bryan Colangelo too. Where'd that false hope get you.

The reality of the situation is, we have one of the top 5 GM's in the league. Who absolutely robbed you twice.

We are sorry for your loss with Bargnani. I mean a 2016 first (which will likely be a lottery pick), an expiring in camby, and filler with Novak? We would have been happy with anything.

In that case then Ujiri is just making a poor move trading away an expiring in order to make the team win less.

Why would a rebuilding team want to trade a contact coming off the books for 2 more years for basically the same player.

None of these trade propsals makes sense, lateral moves.

And to the guy that listed all the other "options". When did Nets scrubs become equal players to Shump and Felton???

With how stacked the West is, it is very possible

But they aren't in the lotto now and will get out first this year which should be good. And I assume you think we also will be in the lottery as well in 2016, right? You should reconsider what likely means and go back to your board
