ideal 1st round scenario:

w/ some lottery luck land Jalen Green, use the Mavs pick (assuming it lands in the 20-25 range) on Jared Butler

I need to see the GLeague guys play full games. Tough for me to get hyped just from clips.

I think he's the real deal. his bounce is incredible and his off the dibble game is strong. he's gonna be an offensive force

Oh I didn't say that in a doubting way. I want Green & Kuminga to be beastly too & they sound like prospects I'd love. I just can't get myself that excited for them & jump on their bandwagons the way I'm on Ziaire, Butler...or even Keon Johnson's.

In a vaccuum, I'd prefer to pair RJ with a bigger wing, which is why I really want Ziaire...or Kuminga if he's as good as he sounds / seems-to-be...but if Green is just on another level than either of them, then that would be awesome too. I just need to see it in some full games to fully get on the bandwagon.

understandable, tho if the 2023 draft has HS prospects, we're gonna have to rely less on college

Yeah, it's going to be hard to have as many strong opinions once the HSers start regularly coming out

Wagner is interesting, but I have a tough time seeing Garza making it in the NBA...the kid he makes Kanter's feet look nimble.

Yes. I think you can work with his limited foot speed. How he plays factors in as a plus to me. There are still big guys, offensive centric guys in the NBA that are major impact guys.

My issue is that Garza will need to be almost Jokic-caliber offensively just to be playable. Cause I'm having a tough time thinking of any centers in the NBA who are as bad as Garza defensively and actually play. The only guys who are that slow & soft defensively are end of bench guys who never actually get on the court, like Kornet. I'm taking Toppin as a smallball 5 over Garza defensively...and that's not exactly a tough decision.

Garza is like Sharife Cooper to me; skilled enough to dominate at the college level, but his physical limitations are going to make it very hard for him to carve out an NBA career for himself. Which is why I think there are better gambles to make.

I'm with you on Wagner though, not sure there's that big of a difference between him & Kispert. Both can do things with the ball at the college level & have the shooting to lean on even if the rest of their games won't translate to the NBA.

I need to watch this Garza dude..watch his feet...Marc Gasol even in his prime never had fast feet but had great foot work.

1:24 mark that kickout pass is some elite level court awareness

I like how under control yet aggressive he plays

I liked him early on and he sorta fell off the radar. Nice to see him ball out. Another solid target for us

it was a very nice performance but not surprising, he was just so much bigger and stronger then our frontcourt. PITT is decent this year but we play an uber small lineup. The biggest guy we play is 6'8 and the rest of the guys are like 6'6 and smaller.

Champagnie was cookin last night.
4-Peat! 22-25 BAF Champion Spurs:

ROSTER

Walker Kessler/Daniel Gafford/Adem Bona
Nikola Jokic/Santi Aldama/Isaiah Stewart
Aaron Nesmith/Josh Hart/Jaime Jaquez
Alex Caruso/Keon Ellis/Justin Champagnie
Steph Curry/Chris Paul/Ryan Rollins

Don't see that one. Jalen isn't anywhere near as quick/nimble or as good of a shooter.

He's a skilled-4 rather than a true perimeter guy IMO.

Not even in the NBA will Jalen Johnson play the 4/5 like Randle. He's not 250 and he's not a big man. He's a playmaking forward who likes to slash to the basket and his mid range looks solid. Outside shot lacks volume but he's shown ability to shoot from outside. Johnson has a similar frame and game to Rui Hachimura except he's got way better playmaking ability.

:dontknow: Covington does, and that's who I see defensively from Jalen Johnson.

Covington has 0 offensive responsibility besides catch and shoot 3s. He doesn't handle the rock, he doesn't facilitate, he doesn't look to score in any other way besides catch and shoot so a team with the likes of Harden, Westbrook, Dame, CJ can afford a role player like Covington to play that role. You are going to ask Johnson to be a ball handler, scorer, facilitator, rebounder and also play undersized as a big man getting killed in the paint by dudes that are much stronger than him?
