Grimes is a better shooter, defender, passer and way more coachable.

Grimes finishes better with his off hand, has a better handle and is a better athlete.

Grimes is clearly better. I’d start Grimes at the 2. Now the question is if RJ deserves to start at the 3 over Fournier. Fournier is clearly the better shooter that’s not up for debate. But Fournier has defensive concerns and his DBPM was -0.3 (-0.7 for his career) indicating he’s a negative defender. Well RJ’s was -1.6 (-2.2 career average) so Fournier is also the better defender. Also if you look atFournier DRtg was 112.5 per 100 possessions -2.7 Netrtg, RJ 114.5 per 100 and a -9.1 Netrtg. So yeah Fournier is better and we need to bench RJ. Pacers are just trying to get younger. Turner will be perfect with the Suns if he's healthy. He turns 27 this season and is in his "prime". His next contract will be bad. Ayton is entering his age 24 season. So they wind the clock back 3 years.

Bennedict Mathurin (20)
Haliburton (22)
Jackson (21)
Duarte (25)

It is what we should have done all along. They get younger and better.

Duarte is like the same age as Randle and Brunson...

Yeah he's one of the oldest rookies ever, this is his age 25 season just like Old Man Obi.

Randle entering his age 28 season, Brunson entering his age 26 season. Prime years to get that 7th seed and get anal blasted in the first round.

If RJ is actually 6' 6" that's a little small for a 3 depending on the matchup. This is all of course predicated on the idea that we're trying to win games. But if they saw RJ for what he is and actually wanted a league average efficiency performance from him they'd make him a bench wing. Instead they think he's on Ja Morants level and will no doubt max him a year too early.

Well at the very least they can't trade Wiggins to the Nets (for KD) unless and until the Nets trade Simmons first.

You could say we have the most beautiful supporting cast with literally not a single player to build around (not even on the horizon).

I think we gotta have some patience with the group. You can say we are doing what BKN did before they got KD/Kyrie - establish a brand. We have plenty of talent.

RJ, Obi, even Brunson could develop into multi-year all-stars.

I don't know what your definition of a player to build around is, but most of those "build around" guys are on their 3rd teams already. We are on pace to be where we need to be. Who is to say that the Pistons are not just developing Cade for us in a few years?

Solid play-in game fodder lineup.

Why is it people say things like this on this board?

We don't have a top 30 player on the roster. We have no rookie scale players who project to become one.

We might now have a top 50 player on the roster in Brunson, but he's maybe the 5th or worse starting point guard in the league and that's being generous.

Do you mean players? We have players. Our roster might in fact have the least talent and potential on it in the entire league.

Spurs?

Yeah we are pretty much still at the bottom of the heap in terms of existing or projectible top end talent.

I'm not trolling. What team has less talent, or more appropriately less talent and future draft picks?

We at least have our own picks, but again have put ourselves in a position to be the 8th-7th or play-in for the next few years. We have the Mavs pick next year, they'll likely be the 6th or so seed. We have some mostly fake future 1sts.

Discounting front office or ownership competency what teams setup wouldn't you trade for ours? I might have said the Blazers but with a lottery pick this year in Sharpe and Simmons being better than any player on our roster I wouldn't now.

Charlotte has LaMelo who I'd trade our whole roster for.

Houston, Detroit even Orlando ... all have far better young (er than 24 year old).

Yeah, even the comparison the the pre Durant Nets is not good....they had a lot better role players than the Knicks currently have. Dlo, Dinwiddie, Allen, Harris, LeVert, again, not great, but Dlo was an AS with them, and again, there's just more talent there. I'm really not sure what the Knicks can do since ownership refuses to do an actual rebuild.

*Randle was top 30 a year ago, could be again this year

*RJ is rookie scale, he projects to be a top 30 player

*Brunson was not meant to be a savior, his job is to be Kyle Lowry without the chub issues

So yeah, if you look at our roster and see nothing, then you and I just very much disagree on what talent is and looks like. Some knicks fans proclaim scrubs to be gods, others (like you apparently) look at good young players and see Shandon Anderson and Howard Eisley. Go be a fan of the Pacers, give them your negativity and don't bother coming back when we are in the playoffs this year.

I want to see what the final roster looks like after FA. But yeah there is no doubt a level of promising young talent on this team. The cupboard is not bare.

Congrats on the play in game welcome to Charlotte, home of the Bobcats.

What about RJ projects him to be a top 30 player? Tell us. Is it that he's one of the worst 25 shooters in the league who's allowed to shoot? Is it his C level athleticism? That bank shot game winner? Or just "he's a Knick"? He did GET TWENTY this year!

You think Randle will be a top 30 player this year based on a massive outlier season in which he played in empty arenas, against teams that rested their rosters or had massive covid absences and was completely exposed in the playoffs when a team actually tried? That's your stance?

**** the Pacers. I'm a Knick fan for life, which makes this approach so miserable, knowing it's not going to lead to a finals competitive team anytime in the next 5 years.

Ja really just had his zoomer moment, I mean, I guess he doesn't realize there were just as many 'super stars' in the league back when Jordan played but what made Jordan so special was that he was better than them all....that's why he's considered one of the if not the greatest player of all time. I think Ja's showing his youthful naivete.

How many of these current 'super stars' are just media manufactured? Over hyped in a social media landscape where every little thing is on a looped gif posted, tweeted and retweeted a zillion times. It could be argued that the no touch NBA has created 'stars' out of players who probably wouldn't be 'stars' in the hard defense league of the past.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.
