It’s pretty anticlimactic if the trend indicates that the favorites always win. I mean, who doesn’t love an underdog or Cinderella story? So pretty much what it looks like is whichever teams has the most regular season wins is guaranteed the ring? Kinda boring and takes some of the anticipation out of the playoffs.

This is one issue with the sim. RNG determines some things but when teams are as overpowered as the top teams in BAF most years you can't beat em. Injuries are also way less common than IRL.

If tanking teams tried to compete it'd be different, I've been trying to think up of ways to make the tanking teams want to compete more. Some rule changes to incentivize the treadmill (of course outside of completely revamping the way we do FA ratings).

Appreciate you looking that up. So assuming that's accurate, Dallas also had the best record the year they won the chip. It will be interesting to see if that was the same for Milwaukee in season 1. If so, then the team with the best regular season record has always won the championship.

I think the trend we are seeing that it was a bit more competitive throughout the league early. We were so use to those BAT days so everyone tried to build out a winner outside of maybe 1 or 2 teams that went completely young. As the seasons have progressed and the draft became a valuable rebuilding tool you can see that the 50 win teams went 60 win teams that now are even at 70 win teams and those 40 win teams went to 30 and then under 20. And now you have more teams picking a future direction where its nearly a qtr of the league that is not trying to compete.

the biggest separation in talent is the amount of teams that aren't trying to compete. You have a good portion of the league that doesn't have interest in signing vet FA's...so those just go to the better teams on cheaper then normal deals because the tanking teams don't want to add any wins.

So the talent pool is kinda forced into less teams making the gap between certain teams larger then it originally was.

True, but the NBA does follow somewhat of a similar path in terms of predictability to some extent. Like this year could be different because we don't have a super team in the NBA.

But when the Warriors were in there run they were a luck to make the finals and favs to win. Any team with LeBron in the east was a lock to make the finals too. So I do feel real life NBA is pretty anticlimactic when you have teams far superior in talent.

We beat the 1st seed as the 8th seed in season 1 so it’s possible.

I don’t have time, but could any of you track upsets in the early rounds as well? Cuz if they are not found with any regularity there either, then it becomes deeper than just a Finals issue and to me would indicate a systematic flaw.

Oh ok, so you just added some clarity to my latest question. So that’s one upset in the early rounds.

I also upset Philly in the 1st round last season as well. But we were pretty evenly matched. Philly won the division in the regular season on a tie breaker. I think I won the playoff round in 5 (iirc). Someone fact check me please.

Anyone else with an upset case study?

Upsets are def possible, season 1 we we made it to the conference finals as the eight seed. Season 4 we beat the 1 seed in NOP. It’s rare but it’s possible.

even last year our series was extremely close. it was tied 2-2 and game 5 we both had double digit leads and game 6 was a 111-110. That series was essentially a toss up how I saw it. So I don't think just because I was the #1 seed I was winning it all I knew our series was going to be tight.

HCA def gives an advantage...I don't know how much but that is why we were battling to the last day which could have flipped the results last year.

Golden State beat me last year and we had like 8-9 more wins. They also knocked out Gobert.

5 seed being 9-1 vs the 4 seed is very weird lol.

A win is a win. Siakam played great. DrRozan was efficient. OO with 15 points and 13 boards was solid. No complaints. GSW/NE is up next.

8 point loss to Cleveland where we went 9 for 36 from 3.

I'll take that.
