I'm thinking long term here, and not just building a second round fodder team for the next 5 years. Amar'e and Bargs come off the books in 2015 I believe. We'd have a ton of cap space for 2015, plus some assets(if we were to get something for Melo and Chandler). To me that's a start. But in reality, Dolan would never commit to a plan like that because he just renovated the Garden and needs to put butts in the seats. It's too ballsy for him to even consider. Plus he would basically be conceding that the Melo plan was a failure.

BTW Smith shouldn't be starting for any NBA team. Smith blows and is a complete headache both on and off the court. Don't let his SMOTY award fool you. He's regressed badly this year and is back to his same old habits and tricks.

You went through a tough rebuilding to make it to the second round once. Dolan is not doing that again. If he can play Indiana in the second round again, he will take his chances. And Smith would be different player in a different system (small ball) and in winning situation.

Shut up.

Just heard about the trade rumors, have to ask, why in God's name would raps trade for JR and Felton? JR smith is a horrible shooter signed to a terrible deal, raps just cleared 12 mill from their roster next year, Felton is trash.
Lowry isn't an allstar, but he's one tier lower. Spark plug, with a wet shot, and underrated passing, steals as well. Not sure knicks, nets line up properly with the raps who're looking for something like a 20th first rounder, makes more sense to deal with bulls imo.

Depends what we re-sign him for. If it's at his current rate, we are fine as Felton would be off the books.

Why in the world would Chicago trade for him.

Can any of these Raptors fans explain why Valanciunus moves like Robin Lopez with less motor? He was one of my keepers in fantasy and it pisses me off. Where are the blocks?

They need a PG in the worst way.. Look at what hinrich/teague have done last 10 games, worse than abysmal. Need someone to play for injured Rose.

But they aren't in the lotto now and will get out first this year which should be good. And I assume you think we also will be in the lottery as well in 2016, right? You should reconsider what likely means and go back to your board

I see nothing wrong with adding to the discussion

But to your point, without a legit star I can see the Nuggets falling behind other teams in the West as they continue to improve. I guess this star could come your pick but I see you improving once Chandler comes back and possibly even making the playoffs in the LEastern conference. I do think that you will be in the lottery at that point b/c it seems like the odds of Carmelo staying are relatively low at this point

Can see is far different from likely. Denver is young and shouldn't be in the lotto at that point and haven't been in years. Knicks will spend all their cap space after 2015 and will at least be a treadmill.

Denver is full of young role players, a couple young teams with a star could quite easily surpass them

At best I see the Knicks similar to when they first signed Stoudemire by 2016 but it will be hard to convince FAs to sign when you don't have any players

yeah i don't see them giving up anything of value for this year's team. they need to start thinking about a future where rose might not be the savior.

Wait am I the only one who can't get over the fact we might give up shump for a player that might leave the team after this year? So the knicks are gonna give up shump for nothing? Lol if this happens I wouldn't be surprised honestly.

I wouldn't give up no good trading chip for a rental I'm sorry but this team is in no position to take a chance like this. I can't shump might never be a all star, but Dolan will do this because he got him mad ala Jlin running up his price or what ever it was.

The only players I would consider giving up is jr Felton and fillers if they don't bite bye bye nobody is breaking down the wall for Kyle Lowry.

if we had a proper gm we could have pull off getting rental lowry for felton( who has 3 years left for 10m I guess which is useful for rebuild team as a back up in my opinion) fillers plus maybe a second round but in this league every gm know they can always get more from knicks espiacally ujiri so my body ready for melo chandler + first for lowry

Whats going to happen is lowry plays his ass off. Knicks come up short but show promise. Lowry gets a contract from us. Melo gets offered the super max extension. We sign shump. Then shop him with stats expiring contract plus future picks for a big name.
