Good ole training camp starts tomorrow. KP is taking the reigns! He's going to get roughed up being the focal point. Time for some growing pains.

So he just arrived in NY yesterday/today?

I mean, aren't you supposed to get at least a couple of days earlier?

Jet lag is gonna mess up his training process.

He got some much needed rest in before the hard work starts again, and considering he trained his heart out during the summer, his conditioning should be great. He will be more than right, he will dominate. A little more than three weeks out, people! :)

"I am ready for the challenge," Porzingis told the Daily News in his first interview since returning to the United States on Saturday. "I've been preparing myself for this moment."

The moment arrives Monday when the post-Carmelo Knicks report to work following yet another chaotic summer for an organization that has captured just one playoff series victory in 17 years. In the weeks and months since Porzingis skipped his exit meeting with team officials in late April, the Knicks made several significant moves directly linked to Porzingis.

In May, the club informed Porzingis' favorite coach, Josh Longstaff, that his contract would not be renewed. Six weeks later, Phil Jackson, who drafted Porzingis, was fired. And following weeks of speculation and trade talks, Anthony was dealt to Oklahoma City on Saturday just as Porzingis was returning to New York after having spent the entire off-season in Latvia.

There is also the matter of reports, including several from the Daily News that Porzingis' relationship with Jeff Hornacek is on thin ice. Porzingis, who spoke to The News after he was spotted at a midtown eatery Sunday afternoon, declined to address the circumstances behind blowing off his end of the season meeting with Jackson, Hornacek and Steve Mills. The 22-year-old forward would only say, "Honestly, I would love for this year to be a new start. All I'm looking for is a fresh start and not to talk about that anymore."
Porzingis, however, does stand by his decision to return to Latvia and workout on his own.

"It was important that I disconnected from everything," he added. "I was working on my game and resting my mind. I kept working hard this summer to put myself in this position. I'm coming in with a fresh mind. I don't want to carry anything from the previous season."

Porzingis said the news of Jackson's dismissal and the ensuing Carmelo trade surprised him even though Anthony, who was at odds with Jackson and was looking to leave New York, had been linked to trades for two months.

"Carmelo was a mentor to me," Porzingis said. "He was a big brother from day one. I texted him to tell him I appreciated that I was able to learn from him. Having him around was important for me. I respect him a lot. I also told him that if he doesn't bring his Rolls Royce with him, I'll take care of it."

Good to hear KP is ready. It'd be nice if the media would move forward and stop talking about the exit meeting.

I want them to move forward on it, too, but the problem is KP never addressed it at all if I recall correctly. He's more at fault for this lingering than the media, IMO.

I got full confidence in handing KP the keys to the franchise. I know he can be "that guy". He's got it all. It may take a couple more seasons for him to reach his peak but I'm patient. Even if the media/general fan base ain't as patient as me, he's tough enough to handle the criticism.

The assists and defense are important to me. I think KP is going to be great this year. It should be a relaxed NO TURMOIL (in terms of distractions) with the Knicks.

We all know he was in the gym a lot this summer, and sometimes you could see the results, but at others you kind of strained your eyes and told yourself it had to be there even if you couldn't see it outright.

I was looking through some pictures online, and I saw this from the dust-up with Randolph - it jumped out to me right away because you can definitely see additional meat on his bones.
