Kanter will be fine until you realize as soon as he goes in NYK +/- skews heavily towards -.
Which is fine while we have him this year, as we are trying to tank for Doncic.
I also think he's traded at some point, but that's based on nothing more than a feeling so chances are I'm wrong.
If the true intention is to tank than the trade makes sense. But then why not keep the guy who was great at accidentally tanking or get a guy who was specifically good at tanking?
Kanter is specifically good at tanking. He's going to make us worse than we are with Melo, which is a win for us long-term. I've said repeatedly I'm not thrilled with the trade and wanted something more (Abrines, Ferg, a first, or Huestis), but it is what it is. We're gonna suck this year, get a high pick, and hopefully draft Doncic. If we're really interested in making KP "the guy" why would we keep Melo here another year? Honestly, I was cool keeping Melo and letting the chips fall where they may. Like you said, we sucked with him anyway and IMO keeping him could have helped Frank a lot this year.
