The fact that you have to cherry pick names is exactly my point.

It’s subjective. Would you consider Kawhi gritty?

Grit can only get you so far... just ask the 90s knicks

westbrook and harden would say otherwise...they both specifically sought out frank after the game impressed with his defense. They don't just do that...

Trevor Ariza was not Trevor Ariza. Didnt become what you know him to be until his third contract and really has only added an assisted 3pointer.

Frank Ntilikina is not Trevor Ariza

^^^^^screwed that up. Those were my words, not knicksgm's.

In any case, can someone teach me how to read defensive advanced stats? What are the main stats most people use and how do you read them. As in.. is the higher the number the better or the lower the nunber. Obviously I'm looking for more than blks steals.

Knicks are in the ultimate asset mode meaning regardless of position, they're trying to get/create assets whether through draft, sign reclamation projects, and trading.

DSJ was not the core of KP trade, he's another asset to add to the cupboard regardless of position. Cap flexibility and picks are so much more valuable than anything DSJ could fetch.

Excellent!

Two of the more intriguing trade targets that could work out between the Bulls and Knicks include center Robin Lopez and point guard Kris Dunn.

Let's not forget what Steph Curry had to say about him. But then again what does Steph know about basketball?

I'm not taking any of the bait from the .article. I'm sure Perry is getting some calls about Frank. I believe I've seen enough from Perry to know that he's no dummy. He understands the value of a defensive vacuum cleaner at the point guard spot. I'm sure he sees the potential in Frank to be a big difference maker in a few years and also to be a bust.

In my mind, this comes down to timeline. If we are definitely getting HD + superstar #2 then Frank's development timeline doesn't fit. If the plan shifts to - keep the pick and amass more young talent, then I would be disappointed giving up on Frank. He may be a Chauncey Billups type of player where a fresh start and a coach who runs an actual offensive system will launch the next level in his career.

Also, the saddest part of all of this to me is, if Frank were the exact same player on a different team, we would trade for him and give him more playing time than he would get now if he were healthy. The amount of rope we give to other reclamation projects is insane. Frank is always on a tight leash.

How does one “show a penchant for analytics” exactly, and how has Perry neglected to do these things? Show me these facts.

Now here’s Perry talking about using analytics.

To be honest, I don't know if Westbrook said something or not. It's mostly irrelevant.

Fact is that we have elite defensive performances that Frank put on against the top players in the game to point to when assessing him as a defensive prospect.

We don't need to rely on some subjective intangible like grit.
