With chris paul the knicks at least gain a respected leader on the floor and get a taste of what its like to compete, and play a decent brand of basketball. You think players want to blatantly keep losing while the organization shows no effort to try and get better? that does more damage than it does good. if you can get a chris paul without over paying i dont see the harm in it. Even if we drafted a kira lewis or whatever id still want CP3 here as a mentor/leader.

Facts. It’s time for the Knicks to start trying to put a decent squad on the floor. Wishing and praying on the lottery is a fallacy. Many contenders in the league best players were drafted outside of the top 3. Some don’t even have a single lottery pick.. we just have to be comfortable in our scouting/coaching staff taking the best available talents and having a plan in place for them to grow into possible studs in whatever role we ask of them

There's a middle ground between Pill's "Sign retread bums to 1 year deals to maintain cap space" and "Let's trade away picks for aging stars with almost nothing left on the tread"

Hopefully the Knicks can find it.
I doubt it

This is the concern I have. I don't trust the Knicks to not overpay with future picks.

This.

I mean, CP3 is still a very good player.
He's also 35, with a lot of mileage, and he makes 40 million per, for 2 more years.
And the Knicks would let OKC extract picks from them for that?
When OKC already has like a zillion picks?
Why facilitate further OKC's rebuild, while putting themselves in cap hell for 2 years, and give away no cost (until drafted) assets in picks?

If they do, it's same old Knicks.

If the Knicks get CP3 in a salary dump from OKC, like for the carcasses of Portis/Payton or even Spin Cycle Randle? Sure.
If they GET picks from OKC for saving them 40 million a year X2?
Those would be "not the same old Knicks" kind of moves.

We'll see.

After everyone hopped off the Devin Vassell train all the draft talk stopped. It was Vassell or bust?

if i was cp3 i would try to demand a trade to a contender instead of wasting his last couple years where he's still playable rotting on the knicks and ruining our rebuild. we will all hate him by the end of year 2 believe that

CP3 knows on some level his knees are about to fail, so there is no better place to while away those last 2 NBA years, than enjoying all the big apple has to offer, while suiting up for about 15 basketball games, total.

With the added bonus that Dolan might even extend him a year!

The only way I'm taking CP3 is if OKC hands over two firsts. CP3 still has value to a team on the cusp but they aren't getting a haul for him if they're trying to dump him to any old team. They better be prepared to pay up if they're calling MSG.

2 is a bit excessive. 1 is good enough for me. Oh, and they take Randle back.

it can be fun to dream but he was an all-star (fluke) and they will demand assets in a trade, not give them

Good. Some other team can help OKC have 13 first rounders in the next 4 drafts instead of 11 or whatever the hell in the name of Danny Ainge they have.
