They already got their backups. Ed Davis is good enough to backup Robinson. Plus Toppin and Randle should probably also get some play in small ball lineups at C. Davis was actually considered one of the better backup Cs in the NBA prior to this pass season with the Jazz. He looked brutal but many believe that it was due to the Jazz system which just wasn't compatible with Davis game. Before that Davis was excellent in that role.

Ed Davis won't be here when training camp starts. Besides, would you pass on the great Willie Caulie-Stein for Ed Davis?

All kidding aside, WCS does have some skills and is still young. Why not?

Davis will be here. If for no other reason cause the Knicks can't trade him before training camp starts. But yeah its hard to pass on the all zagnut champ WCS lol.

so far, I'm fine w/ Leon Rose...only moves that haven't made sense are trading away #33/passing up on RJ Hampton (I get the value of the 2023 pick w/ HS players, but we have 3 other 2nds that yr, and we need talent now). would've taken Hali or Kira over Obi but am still good w/ Obi (he'll be very good if his defense improves)

but if you have the chance to get a top 3 (if not the best, which he is IMO) GM/POBO, you do it. made no sense why Dolan didn't go for it

I could be a great gm if I just blew a team up and traded everyone for picks and won 5 games and tanked every year forever this is basically what constitutes a genius gm and gets everyone to slob on your knob. not to make excuses for the knicks because they've been trash but I feel like the hinkies of the world get more praise and respect than gms who actually win some games

Send picks for two years of $17milper Rubio? They should send picks to take him. He's aiight but I'd rather let the kids play. DSJ, Frank, Quickley and Powell.

Besides, he got moved to Minny already

If the Knicks can't land a true no.1 or 1b (the minimal requirement to win in the NBA) I'm dubious of investing big dollars on supporting caliber players...especially older ones and ones with limited or no upsides.

Oh and the elephant in the room here is that DSJ and Frank are going to expire after this year if they don't get an extension. So if you don't do that you're basically pulling a Mudiay and wasting minutes and developing a PG that in all likelihood would walk in free agency like Mudiay did. We have to wait and see and if they are playing next season out as expiring contracts my desire to develop them further isn't very high

Fred Van Vleet & Gordan Hayward?

Post#1872 » by Zerostatic » Sat Nov 21, 2020 7:20 am

What do you guys think of us going after Fred Van Vleet & Gordon Hayward? They would add the outside shooting that would compliment RJ and the dunk brothers (Mitch & Obi). Defense could be an issue with Hayward and Obi both being suspect defenders but perhaps Thibs could create a defensive scheme that works since that's his forte.

PG - FVV
SG - RJ
SF - Hayward
PF - Obi
C - Mitch

Thoughts?

No matter what we will have a new point guard. There is no way the Knicks hired a good front office where Frank and Dennis are battling it out for the starting point guard spot.

That'll still leave the Knicks enough cap space to sign a $20 million guy. For FVV lovers, this would be a scenario where a FVV signing potentially would make some sense. FVV can shoot. He defends. And as a 1b, 2a, 2b type (depending on how well Barrett and/or Toppin develops) it would be a fit.

I think we need to get some answers from the front officer to some pointed questions.

-what was the plan going into Wednesday and free agency?

-was everyone on board with the plan?

-did you execute the plan?

-is there a backup plan?

Doesn't training camp start in a week?

HarthorneWingo wrote:I think we need to get some answers from the front officer to some pointed questions.

Leon: The plan going into Wednesday and free agency was really to just soak it all in and just enjoy it as much as possible. You see, as an agent, I've been on the other side for a long time, all the abuse we agents take as GMs engage in their "fake hustle". This was my turn to try it out, see how the agents scurry about when I send out a rumor I'm interested in one of their players and their silly contracts. I mean - Chris Paul? Russell Westbrook? Really, I'm trading for Gordon Hayward? Who would believe that, right? Agents! That's who! Yeah and some fans I guess.

-was everyone on board with the plan?

Leon: I love how the question assumes there's a choice involved. What, you think Scott Perry is going to disagree? He's going to challenge me on ideas? He can't rock the boat in a contract year. Thibs thinks we're a playoff team this year - that's how out of touch with reality he is. So, yeah, everyone was on board, hahaha.

-did you execute the plan?

Leon: Like I said, I wanted to soak it in and have my fun. I definitely did that, still more to come though!

-is there a backup plan?

Leon: I wouldn't call it a backup plan, but you know how Anthony Davis hasn't re-signed yet? I'm going to float a story out there...ohhh it'll be fun, you're all going to go crazy for it!

I wanted Hield, Beal, Grant, Bogdanovic, Beasley among others. None of that seems to make sense any longer.

This is the most who cares period ever. Obi is meh. He's no Stat, no Blake, no Mcdyess. He's a good pick at 8, but this team is still going nowhere with it.

Bring on the MSG Pregame coverage. I'm not watching the rest.

Return to New York Knicks
