Yep, the Donovan Mitchell trade would’ve been a good move either way. The guy is a winner and shows up in the playoffs. It is what it is though, not going to revisit those debates again

I’m not emotional guano, just can’t wait for Lebum to leave the league, would be amazing to not have to hear about the constant media coverage year round about the dood that only won his rings by going to Miami. He has the longevity, I’ll give you that, but I’ve never seen a dood’s legacy be carried more by his teammates than lebum. One Brunson ring in NY >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any of Lebum’s rings.
some of that sht you posted isn't even true
but yeah as a knicks fan a brunson ring will is worth more than all rings
Isn’t true? Let’s count the ways…
- He went to Miami to win because he couldn’t stay in Cleveland and win the way Giannis did … check
- He wanted to consistently play on LOADED teams because he could not do it himself. See his jumping ship to join a loaded MIA, then back to CLE where kyrie and love were… check
- He would not have made it to a game 7 if not for Ray Allen’s shot against the spurs… check
- He declared himself the greatest ever, after kyrie hit a game winning 3 in game 7 against the warriors… check
- He declared himself the greatest ever, who tf does that? It’s not up to you to decide that, it’s up to the fans, the media and players who have observed players over decades. You can think you’re the greatest at something, it doesn’t mean that you are. Such a cringe player …. Check
- He constantly joins teams that are loaded, or forces management to trade pieces out, unloading players as if he’s the GM. He went back to Cleveland, as kyrie’s star began to rise, and traded their number 1 overall pick for Love … Check
- He won in the bubble, one of the most asterisk’d finals appearances/wins the league has ever had, after he b*tched and moaned and complained to have the season restarted because he thought the had another chance to win with that team… check
- He has not been able to win a ring in LA since that bubble ring… check
- He had Nike pretty much delete all footage of him getting yammed on before it started to circulate on the internet in a gym run… check
- He had a cringe worthy appearance on stage to unveil him, bosh and wade where he declared the heat would win not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7 championships… check
- He still lost in the finals not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5 but SIX TIMES… check
I could keep going and going and going, but it boils down to the fact that he is the most cringe worthy player I’ve ever seen on a court who cries, complains, and begs for attention he will never garner in true basketball heads as the greatest ever. Giannis’ 1 ring in MIL, Jokic’s 1 ring in DEN, and Brunson’ eventual 1 ring in NY will be worth more than any mercenary rings lebum’s “won”. Trust me, the league will be a lot more fun to watch when he’s gone, without him hijacking and having to control the narrative, but he will play until he’s 50 just to say he’s “earned” every record in the books… Check

Also, Brook Lopez is the Jeff Green of Kristaps Porzingises. In seriousness, it's stunning he's been this good for this long. I would have capped him at about 10 years before he fell off drastically. Like Jeff Green.
the changing of the game prolonged his career
Agreed but he changed his game too.
I remember him being a post player when he entered the league and his stats bear that out. He didn't take any threes until like year 5 and then he just started spamming. Also, his interior defense just keeps getting better somehow.
Kenny Atkinson is the person who is responsible for Lopez shifting from a low post scorer to stretch 5.

We’re better off without another ball-dominant scorer. Everybody should have seen and understood that by now. I wouldn’t trade any of our core players for Mitchell. Cavs and Mitchell are overrated.

Mitchell is a great player that I would have loved to have, but we made the right decision. That trade would have zapped our resources where we would not have been able to assemble OG, Mikal, Hart....maybe Deuce...maybe KAT.
It was perfect timing to add Mikal and KAT
Plus we already beat Clev in the playoffs pretty badly....with RJ as our 2nd best player in the series

I don't think that's true.
Hart only took Cam and a protected first. We could've still traded for him.
We would still have IQ who became the centerpiece of the OG trade, with additional picks and salary filler to trade if needed. We could've still traded for him.
We had the resources to build a contender around Mitchell and Brunson. And as it turns out, Ainge's demands were pretty much a bargain for us.
That we beat them with Mitchell doesn't automatically mean we would've met Cleveland's fate with him on our squad.
It's perfectly fine to be happy with our current squad - which I am - and admit to these points.

IQ was always going out in that trade, the hang up was Grimes and an additional first (29). It always needs to be repeated, they took way more from the Cavs, Ainge wasn't going to just take our crap offer without circling back to see what the Cavs were offering. He has never had a fair and balanced trade; he was using us for leverage against the Cavs.
The Mitchell trade was an old-NBA trade, and they thankfully avoided it. One of the biggest reasons why the Cavs are successful is because they had 3 guys under 25 on rookie deals when they traded for him, we didn't have that. They also have two elite defensive bigs, while the center we would be banking on is out, yet again.
I think the Cavs are a regular season team, their warts will come out when the pace slows down and they need to score in the halfcourt and they fall right back into your turn, my turn while Mobley is unwilling to take volume threes cause that pressure hits different in April-June.

I respect it.
Tbh, I don't blame anyone here for hating on bron. The decision was fcked. Killed our hope then he proceeded to beat on us in the playoffs. Coupled with the fact he is a great its easy to root against him. I just don't.
I enjoy hoops and he plays the game in a way that i find really entertaining. It's cool as hell that his signature defining play is a chase down block in the finals on the winningest team of all time. I respect that he went home to bring a championship and and he contributes to help the community he grew up in. Its cool as hell that he married his hs gf, has stayed with her, and has such a tight relationship with his kids. Sure he has said some questionable sht throughout his career but in all I respect his game and him as a man. He has been great for the game. And I didn't want to spend his whole career hating on him.

The Knicks have a core that is built for a long term competitive success with Brunson, Mikal, KAT and OG. I take this group any day.
Now you hope that the league will ease these stupid hard cap rules so that the team can continue to add to this roster without being constricted.
