Quentin Grimlikina highjacking the offense to lead his team to a loss against the tanking New Jersey Nets is not impressive.

Mavericks are 4-1 since dumping Grimlikina.

Sixers are on a 4-game losing streak since Grimlikina joined the team.

One of the posts the past few days mentioned Phil Jackson had a theory that a true contender had to have at least a 40-20 record after 60 games. I decided to check with CHATGTP and it seems he's mostly correct.

ChatGPT said:

Upon reviewing the regular-season records of NBA champions since 1990, the following teams had records that suggest they were worse than 40-20 after 60 games:

1994-95 Houston Rockets: Finished the season at 47-35. To reach this final record, they would have had to be worse than 40-20 after 60 games.

2005-06 Miami Heat: Ended the regular season with a 52-30 record. While this indicates they were likely close to 40-20 at the 60-game mark, without specific data, it's possible they were slightly below that threshold.

2010-11 Dallas Mavericks: Concluded the season at 57-25. Given their strong finish, it's probable they were at or above 40-20 after 60 games.

2022-23 Denver Nuggets: Finished with a 53-29 record. This suggests they were likely around or slightly below 40-20 after 60 games.

Based on this information, the 1994-95 Houston Rockets are the most definitive example of an NBA champion since 1990 that had a record worse than 40-20 after 60 games.

What if Knicks just kept Grimes and waited for him to improve. The trade with Detroit last deadline was very mediocre, nothing much came from it .

How long were we supposed to wait? Thibs was more than patient with him. And then Divo came and immediately played with aggression.

Grimes still didn't get the message. Later with the Mavs Kidd had to criticize him publicly for him to improve. Im happy for him if he's finally hit his stride. But I doubt it would have happened in NY.

Against UTA? He scored an extra 5 points for one game. Maybe Sham should hold off on celebrating anything for a minute.

I will play the devil's advocate here... I really don't understand people's animosity towards him. I don't follow him too much but he doesn't seem like an extremely unlikeable dude (e.g. Embiid, Harden, LeBron level).

Sure, he is one of the biggest frauds ever but the amount of hatred he accumulates... I don't get it.

Not sure why you quoted me here but, ok.

Start Deuce on some sh*t team and he'd put up the same numbers as Grimes or better.

Fair enough.

More so, I wish the Knicks had gotten 1 useful player back then to fill in for Randle, rather than the two from Detroit

Do you mean for Randle's rebounding? I think Precious can sorta spell that.
