Both OKC and the Spurs have amazing rebuild packages. In addition to their players and future picks, the Thunder also have the Clippers pick outright which, as of right now, is sitting at 5. It would take Giannis completely restricting his destination list to get him.

If he does that, get him.

Giannis has been trying to channel his inner-Lebron for years now when it comes to being passive-aggressive and it hasn't worked.

His only chance of winning a title this season is on another team.

I like Towns, and I also value his talent more than the next guy, but there is no point for Milwaukee to get him, or do I miss something? He’d sure be great with Turner, but they have nothing else, literally nothing. They should rebuild if they lose Giannis.

This is why I’ve really kept saying Towns is our best option. He simply is. There’s nothing out there and he really is a good player, too. Giannis would of course be a no-brainer, and I would love the move, but I really can’t see it happening.

If he’s traded at all, I’d expect him to land in San Antonio instead of NY. And if that happens, you might as well shut down the league.

This is why I don’t expect Towns to get traded in a Giannis deal. It’s going to have to be OG to Mil (future flip for picks) + Mitch (re-routed for young player / pick) + Kolek (college at Marquette) + McCullar + 2nd rounders

Does this team win a chip? I feel like we’d need another stretch 5 off the bench.. could we get Lopez with what’s left ?

Brunson / Clarkson
McBride / Shamet
Mikal / Hart / Dadiet
Giannis / Yabu
KAT / Huk

IMO it would have to be KAT going to a third team (like CHI, SAC, CHA, NOP, etc.) with that third team sending a young player, picks, and salary relief to MIL. KAT does have positive value as his teams have won at a very high clip the last 5 years and he's still a 23 + 11 type guy who is relatively youngish and is going to give you 4 more years of all-star level play in the East and he's on his way to the hall of fame.

Then either OG or Bridges goes to a 4th team or to MIL. Either of those guys would command younger players and multiple picks as both are borderline all-stars.

Lastly, an extra salary part has to come back to NY to help MIL get more cap relief. The net outcome for MIL is young guys, plenty of picks, and cap relief. Exactly the rebuild package a guy like Giannis would warrant. Now OKC or SAS can give them all of that in a 1:1 trade if they want, of course, but that's where Giannis has to steer the ship to his preferred destination (NY). We may even have to loop Portland into the trade to get some of MIL's picks back.

When, not if, Giannis gets traded, we'll be one of the 3-4 teams that will have a realistic shot. We'd be giving up a lot but it would be Leon's grand plan come to fruition if it happens. It probably won't happen, but we've got a shot... that's all you can ask for.

I doubt that OKC would want to disrupt what they have going on there to risk it on Giannis but they have to be concerned that another west rival will get it done.

The Knicks being in the convo is because Knicks for clicks is still a thing and probably always will but I have a hard time seeing them cough up what it would take to get him.

If it was KAT, OG and a youngin or two plus whatever pick trash they still have left lying around, yea, maybe I could see Leon doing that but I don't see the Bucks doing it.

Let's move on already!

The reason I'm not moving on is because 1) the Shams piece where (only) NY-MIL actually had talks in the summer, 2) The Giannis piece where he's outta there by this deadline or this summer and 3) the Leon Rose piece where you know KAT wasn't the final piece of this phase of his grand plan but a guy like Giannis probably is... where there's smoke, there's usually fire.

Tyler Kolek ($2.2m)
Ariel Hukporti ($2.0m)
Mohamed Diawara ($1.3m)

Basically, no one would get traded among our 7 best players:

Jalen Brunson
Karl-Anthony Towns
Mikal Bridges
OG Anunoby
Josh Hart
Mitchell Robinson
Miles McBride

This is the focus. Not some big swing that would gut that 7 man core. My question is can trading two of that bottom 7/non core group net the right big forward who would put us over the top. One tweak is all we need. And that tweak should have been Yabusele if he wasn't such a busy.

I do think my misreading of your trade proposal in the Rap pg thread was pretty interesting.

Trade Yabu, Deuce and Shamet for Kyle Anderson and sign, say exactly, Malik Beasley and Victor Oladipo on 27th December.

Caruso - $20 million
iShart - $29 million

Giannis - 54 million

There's the basis of the trade.

Philly pick, Utah pick, Clippers pick, one of their own.

Bucks would probably pick in the top 15 two years in a row, besides their own.

Doesn't Portland own their picks?

If not, then yeah I can see them taking it. Does Giannis wanna play in Oklahoma though?

not Deuce!!! Dadiet

More on the Nets guys....

Ziaire Williams
- 6'10 wing with a 6'10 wingspan
- 5th year player at 24 years old with two years of playoff experience back in Memphis
- Not a good 3pt shooter, but he CAN shoot the three
- The best 3&D wing they have

Tyrese Martin
- 6'6 wing with a 6'8 wingspan
- 26 year old player, a 2nd round pick from 2022
- Limited winning experience his rookie season in Atlanta on a .500 team
- Mixed reviews on his defense
- Average 3pt shooter, but he can definitely make them

Jalen Wilson
- 6'6 wing with a 6'8 wingspan
- 25 year old player, a 2nd round pick from 2023
- No winning experience, has only played with Nets
- Mixed reviews on his defense
- Also an average 3pt shooter, but can definitely make them

Kyle Anderson on paper to me makes the most sense. He has two years of experience playing with KAT. An extensive playoff resume with San Antonio, Memphis, and Minnesota.

He has never shot better than 33% from three in the playoffs, so he has that going against him. But none of the Nets guys have his resume.

Every day I'm looking at the all 30 teams rosters and their player salaries. There has to be more we can do with this team than just dream about getting Giannis.

Return to New York Knicks
