While Felton was unprofessional last season on a few aspects, I do think the reason why he (And Crawford) both stunk it up was because of Nate McMillan who as we saw in his final game of the season, you saw the Blazer players quit on him and play half assed basketball under him. There was a legit mutiny between he and the players and in the end, the players won. It was as bad as Dantoni's stance with the Knicks last year if not worse.

I doubt Woodson lets Felton get that control and I think Felton knows he's on a fine line, especially with leaders like Chandler/Camby/Kidd/Ku Thomas on this team.

Felton's better than what he showed last year.....but yeah Lin can be the far better player than Felton is IMHO.

They Knicks (Sorry isn't us anymore) once had very good future with young talent:
Lin
Shumpert
Fields
J.Jordan
J. Harrelson

might plus Toney Douglas, who can play any game this season with Knicks ?

Can they win Brooklyn now ? I doubt that

let me ask you this then, do you think the knicks were mentally prepared during the off-season to match an offer like the first one lin got or the second one?

cause, to me, it was a big surprise that lin's first offer was so low. i was expecting something a lot higher, as i'm sure the knicks organization was, too.

now, if there were reports saying that we'd match anything up to a billion dollars for Lin, prior to free agency opening up, don't you think they were prepared for the luxury tax ramifications? this second offer is more what we expected in the first place anyway.

We have a 3-year window. If Lin continues where he left off he's already good enough to be a contributed on a contender; if he can reach his potential in the next 3 years then we can be a contender. He'll be here in years 3, 4, and 5; those are the years where the good players really start to improve.

What potential?

lmao at this hater. Go slurp on Felton, we don't need to hear you smack your lips on this board.

Isola and the tabloids are saying it, so we have no choice but to take them at their word.

That's just pathetic. No one should be taking isola or berman seriously. Lin just heavily thanked the fans last week at the espy's. Wouldn't you take his word over isola/berman?

You're missing the point... he proved he can be that player. And for us to WIN NOW we needed him to be that player or find someone who can of which there are only two of.

I don't get how that relates to what Doc was saying to me...

I don't feel Lin is the ONLY player who can play PG for this team, especially at that price tag.

I was hoping that we'll not match any offers for Lin/Fields, but that wasn't likely back then, now It so close to be true... It'll be like Christmas for me... what a twist!

Knicks will match Lin.

They didn't want to pay for Fields and the SG options are slim. In getting Felton and Thomas, we added more vet dept in the back court and front.

The Knicks have 3 front court stars in Melo, Amare and Chandler, now with Lin, Kidd, Felton and Prigioni
maybe the plan will be to feature the big three more often to maximize their potential. Amare and Chandler are going to be working with Hakeem so we can expect us to go to them more in the paint. Melo and Lin will be the scorers from outside. Kidd will play more SG and help get the ball to Melo, Amare and Chandler. Kidd is a decent defender and passer even at his age and will suffice for the mean time.

We are going to have a PG glut, but the fact remains that if Lin, Kidd or Felton is not performing well at any given time we still have Prigioni and can utilize Smith or White at SG. Remember Kidd said he wanted to help Lin get better and be a better player so that is added means that Lin will be back

Overall we have options, but still need another outside shooter

C-Chandler/Camby
PF-Amare/Thomas/Copeland
SF-Melo/Novak/White
SG-Kidd/Smith/Shumpert
PG-Linn/Felton/Prigioni

in the case we aren't going to match Lin, then we can look to make a sign and trade with Houston and get all we can get

Sooo... he has Billy Ray Bates potential, he'd be out of the NBA in 2015...

How the hell does any of that translate into the operation of running a NBA team and having FINANCIAL flexibility in the face of a massive luxury tax related DIRECTLY to basketball operations? I would like him back but the money is CRAZY...

The financial flexibility has been thrown out the door a long time ago.

Last time I checked Melo, Tyson, STATue, Camby and Kidd all come off the books at the same time. Did something change? I get it, people love Lin. But matching this and getting hammered by the luxury tax may be too much.
