Big game hunting?

8 and 11 are not as attractive as picks in a weak draft full of flawed players. That package wouldn't net much. I think most intelligent GM's already know this is a 3-man draft. Not likely to land any big game. Would be lucky to walk away with a hare or a silly goose.

Yeah, I feel like I'm on the outside looking in, and I'm at the 5th pick

Could be worse, I mean, I do think Hunter or Culver are solid, and there's a chance Garland is still available

Might just go full wildcard and pick Cam or Bol though

Yup. Garland and/or Reddish, to me is where the high end star potential ends. Some people think Little is in that tier but I don't. And at #8 or #11, no savvy GM is gonna give up franchise talent for a role player type which will likely be what is found outside of the top 5/6.

Which is why even with the IRL Knicks it wouldn't be wise to seriously look to trade down in a shallow draft like this.

This isn't the draft to maximize a return on a high salary franchise player type of talent. If you're gonna trade that type of player, seek PLAYERS in return, not picks outside of the top 5/6.

That's the wrong way to look at it, IMO.

There are always great picks outside the top 5 in every draft, it's just that the talent isn't easily identifiable and takes a little bit to develop. That's why it's risky to trade down, not that the talent isn't there necessarily. People said the same thing about the Oladipo draft, barely one or two deep, and most of those people were counting on McLemore or Noel to be the stars in the draft.. never mind Giannis or Gobert or McCollum or even a Steven Adams.

If anything, it's an incentive to ignore most mocks or good press and just go with players that you really think will make a difference in the next level, and if they're in the right situation, you never know what could happen.

This.
It’s complete bs the same thing that everyone says prior to the draft that it’s a “3 player draft” or a “5 player draft” etc. There are star players in this league consistently drafted outside the top 5 picks. The good GMs identify them. The bad GMs don’t. Be a good GM

Good GM's practice risk assessment. When there is an established productive player eschew the gamble of betting on wildcard late lotto pick and get the player who has a track record of producing against men in the NBA.

Especially if there are players available on cheap scale contracts who have already passed the stagnation point of the SIM where their SIM production is catching up to their IRL production. That is the key in team building to win in this SIM.

Be ahead of the curve in the salary scale + SIM production delay.

The way some GM's operate and conduct themselves in an online GAME - with nothing at stake but bragging rights - yet moving with such two-facedness and sheistiness, makes me really question peoples integrity and character.

If you were from where I'm from and you move how you move - and with a lot bigger things at stake, a lot of y'all wouldn't make it out alive.

I'm used to swimming with sharks. But y'all some crabby patties, man

I've always said, if you want to mess around in the mid-first make sure you have multiple picks to mitigate risk. You need a few shots to get a good one in that range.

And I only have 1. Ah well.
