Re: Offseason Thread: The Waiting is the Hardest Part
Honestly, the only reason I want KD now is to avoid the media clowning us for the Nets getting him instead of us. But I realize that's bad reasoning and now am trying to think of what is best for the long term future of the Knicks.
I don't think KD is worth the money at his age and coming off the type of injury he is coming off. Honestly, the Knicks best course of action is to sign nobody unless their analytics department sees a match of value versus long term potential. They should be looking to pick up and develop the next big star. They should not pay for guys who's prime is behind them.

I think he puts up Tobias Harris numbers
20/7/3 on 49/40/86 splits
Solid, All Star caliber player, but not a #1 option
That's the most likely scenario. I'm not paying 40 mil for that if we don't already have a #1 guy is my thing
So best case scenario is KP being overpaid by 13 million a year.

Dolan wouldn't be requesting KD's medicals if the KNICKS were already out of this -- which tells me we're still very much in it!!

My gut says no.
my heart is saying yes but my head is saying no. anybody else with other body parts speaking to them ?
Those two are often at odds. I give the gut the tiebreaker.
The collective rectums of Knick fans is about to take a beating. Trying to bring in other body parts here.

Who Monstared Dolan's brain and gave him some common sense?
Damn. It's like they switched brains with someone with basketball acumen.
I'm waiting to see if Scott Perry starts up a sh*tty blues band.

Oh, we're in it. What I've been telling you is - if we GET out of it, it's at least partly our call.
The Knicks can't simply say they don't want Kevin Durant. Bad juju. So what they've done is say they're all in while signalling out. They pulled away from AD and Kyrie and the writing is on the wall.

Re: Offseason Thread: The Waiting is the Hardest Part
"According to who I've spoken to, [Dolan] is not sitting there saying, 'Don't do it [sign Durant],'" Smith said on ESPN. "He's saying, 'Let's make sure we dot every i, cross every t with that medical report. We want to get our hands on it, we want to make sure we cover our bases.'"
What's wrong with this? If anything, Dolan is doing what a CEO or a owner is supposed to do.

Re: Offseason Thread: The Waiting is the Hardest Part
Dolan honestly just needs to cut the checks. If Perry and company say he's worth the risk, you listen. I understand where Dolan is coming from but you put your basketball people in charge for a reason.

1 - you're correct and we're still the favorites and this got out to make us look bad
2 - we released this information to save face. on some "he didn't turn us down, we turned him down."
who knows

Re: Offseason Thread: The Waiting is the Hardest Part
Kevin Durant has yet to make a final decision on which team he'll sign with this offseason, sources that spoke with Anthony Slater of The Athletic insist.
The possibility of Durant signing with the Brooklyn Nets "is legit" while the New York Knicks "still have hope" despite being "one-time favorites" who became "a victim of variables."
Durant intends to demand a full max contract, which could either be $221 million over five years with the Golden State Warriors, or $164 million over four seasons with a rival team. The $57 million is almost entirely for the final season when he would be locked in to earn at least $50.3 million for age-35 season.

At least the narrative is being established that if the Knicks pass on KD and he does recover, that it was Dolan's incompetent meddling and micromanaging of the FO that caused it.
Whew.

I almost don’t agree with Dolan on ANYTHING. But here I find myself saying “good **** job” twice in 2 weeks. First with the NYDN ban and now this.
