There's the political me and the basketball me. The mods here always treated me very fairly and we had great times back in the day. The CA board was entirely different story. I reacted emotionally because back then I was here to talk Knicks, not politics and it was ripped away from me. And I think I did a damn good job along with a lot of other great posters entertaining the Knicks board.

I disagree. I don't see him as a superstar top 5, but he will definitely be a top 15-20 player in the coming years, if not next year.

That's what I saw from his rookie to sophomore campaign. Jeff is still his coach which is flat out bad.

The triangle is dead. Jeff runs a PnR offense that prioritizes the big popping out to the perimeter. KP is fine.

KP is still a bad screener, he slips too much instead of just absorbing contact, and should roll as much as he pops

If he can figure that out, and Franklin is as good as advertised at PnR passing, we'll be great, but until then, ehhhh

It's crazy, the amount of hype Melo came here with. How people thought he would lift us out of whatever misery we were in. At least Porzingis doesn't have that hype, yet. He's all potential, and there is some level of hype around that (not true results), but if he doesn't live up to it, it'll be disappointing, yes, but I think we'll all live because he'd still be a pretty decent two way player. The fatal flaw with Melo was that he was established. Knicks fans had expectations that he failed to meet. Granted, it's not all his fault, as I can't necessarily say a good team was truly built around him. But I think what's also true is that he was not as good or as 'impactful' as Knicks fans wanted to believe.

I frankly don't think a team could win with him as their best player, even in his prime, considering the competition during his prime years, nor do I think a team could win with him as their best/most efficient scorer. Though I feel like that was the impression for a long time. All the talent, but, overall, lacking in execution. And sadly, dude is too polarizing to keep at this point. Almost similar to Marbury in how it turned out.

At least we can all agree, for the most part, that the THJr signing was pretty baffling.

I'm with you on the Melo fight, but you are wrong about this one. When the guard play improves and we are playing faster KP is going to be an animal. You don't stick a player like him in an offense centered around post play. You open the court and let the man run and shoot.

He's always going to prefer to pop. He's a shooter in his heart. Asking him to play a more physical game really isn't him. He plays best in space. What you need to do is bring in Rondo to maximize KP as KP needs someone that can set him up. He's a finisher in his heart.

I like Melo, I really do. But when LeBron said "He's done so much for that organization," around the time that everyone was piling on Phil for being honest and saying time for Melo to go, I thought to myself, "What has he done?" He was definitely productive. He's good. But that doesn't mean he's done a lot.

It's not his fault, okay, but he didn't do a lot. We lost a ton of games. One 54 win season is nothing.

He got a lot of money and a NTC and we got a ton of L's. At the same time he produced better than any recent "Face" ... going back to Ewing. He didn't suck, at all. But his teams did.

He didn't unfortunately do a lot for us. We could've lost as much or maybe less without him.

The question then becomes why?
Why did he lose so much?

This didn't happen in Denver or in his first few years hear. It went into a new realm when Phil Jackson entered the picture.

Lots of things beyond his control mostly. I don't blame him a lot but some. Just don't tell me any of this was good for the Knicks. Or it was "so much" when it was really "so little," his fault or not.

More an attack on Bron but also the whole mentality that a guy like Phil can't come in and try to actually lead. I'm not sure if Melo agrees he did a lot but he might.

Results seem to matter less and less.

No he doesn't get his jersey retired -- the teams were too bad.
