Honestly, if we had Jaren Jackson, i'd be taking Ja as well, it makes too much sense.

Good either way

The Morant slander on this board is baffling

He's not a top 3 pick

Doesn't go top 5 any other year

His athleticism and playmaking are great, but he struggled to finish at the rim (53% iirc) against OVC level competition, his jumper isn't good (he has literally no pull up game at all, from any distance), and he completely lacks interest in playing defense

He's a guy you take a flier on at like, 8 or 9. He's not nearly as good as his raw numbers look like

If I had to guess, I'd say he's best case scenario Rondo with more bounce and no defense. Which he could be a good player, but he's not a guy you build around

Wow that's a pretty harsh take on RJ. I think he has a primetime scorers mentality and some serious dog in his game. He's way better than you give him credit for. I think his game translates really well to the NBA.

I'm not in love with RJ at 3, I think any other draft except maybe 2016 or 2013 he's a solid 4th or 5th pick, but he is in my opinion the 2nd best player in the draft. You take him without question, but he's not nearly as bust proof as I'd like

Maybe his ceiling isn’t as high as we’d like to believe but I find it hard to see this guy flaming out. Zion is his own beast but RJ has a great motor too and he’s gonna be engaged on the court. So he’s gonna board and he’s gonna run. He’s gonna find ways to help and fill up a stat sheet. His efficiency is a legit question mark as is his defense. But I think his weaknesses are over scrutinized somewhat. He’s 18 and shoulda been entering college this fall. Instead he goes on to put up historic numbers at Duke with the bullseye squarely on their jerseys, playing next to another superstar and not getting in the way...his makeup suggests he’s aware of his weaknesses and he’s gonna do everything he can to get better. I really think these are the types of kids we need to invest in.

Add RJ to the list of players the Knicks didn't/wont get this offseason.

With the way things are going I won’t be surprised if the Grizzlies snatch RJ right before we pick.

Looks like RJ will use the jersey number 6.

The same number he wore when he led Canada to the gold medal in the FIBA World under 19 championships.

I share the same concern with Ja but he is the sexier pick now than RJ and has the Jerry West stamp of approval.

If the Grizzlies decide to pick RJ we should explore a trade down scenario with the Suns or Bulls involving Reddish/Hunter and a 2020 pick.

It would be the smart thing to do. If the Knicks are in love with RJ after the meeting, you take him at 2 and leverage the Knicks for a future pick and still get Morant.
