Any good guards?

Jared Butler at the Mavs pick looks like he would be great for us. He's not as long as IQ, but he's also a deadly long-range sniper & looks like the better floor-general.

12 is a little later than my prospect crush (Ziaire Williams) is projected right now...but James Bouknight is a skilled scoring guard and the Tennessee kids (Keon Johnson & Jaden Springer) are both talented but raw, especially as shooters; all of them projected within a few picks of 12.

Good to know, as Knicks are bolo'ing their way out of top 8

and the Mavs are bolo'ing their way into the top 15- 20. :)

If we do end up at 12 I'd probably want Moses Moody there if we're likely to still be able to get Butler with the Mavs pick. Moody looks like his transition will be pretty quick and he's a really nice looking 3&D prospect.

But I'd be happy with Bouknight or Keon Johnson there as well...although if we went with one of them & Butler with the Mavs pick; I'd really hope that we'd trade up from our SRPs for Scottie Lewis -- who's going to be one hell of a defender in the NBA.

That all said, until it doesn't happen, I'm assuming we'll end up in that 7-9 range again...where we should have a shot at my guy Ziaire.

really like Moody, he's a legit 3&D player

huge Bouknight fan. 3-level scorer

either would be a good get in the 8-12 range. not interested in Keon Johnson. excellent defender, but we really need shooting

I could see Lewis being available at #31 for us w/o even having to move up. really like his potential too

Keon's a project and I would prefer Moody or Bouknight, but I like his potential a lot and would be excited for him if the other two were already off the board; especially if he shows further progress with his shot by draft time.

...but part of why I want us to sign GTJ or THT is to hold the fort next to IQ, RJ, Julius & Mitch; allowing our pick to come off the bench alongside Butler, until they're ready for a big role.

So we're currently looking at #13 & #16. Everyone still optimistic this draft is that deep? (Also #31 & # 37 - worst case scenario=Knicks always) Can we pull 2 shooters and a point guard?

Welp, I've finally discovered a player worth getting excited about in the draft. Josh Giddey. Tankathon has him going to us at 31st. Checks all the boxes for me. 6'8, can shoot, can pass, this is the guy. Take him with the Mavs pick if necessary. Get Giddy for Giddey.

Tankathon has Jared Butler up to #16 on their draft board (has us drafting him at 15)

I was hoping he'd continue to get slept on so we can stage him w/ the Mavs pick (likely 18-24)

shooting a ridiculous 49.4% from 3 on 5.8 attempts per game

Tankathon is trolling me, they have us picking Butler & Ziaire at 14 & 15 right now

Still fun to fantasize about. 48 minutes of sharpshooting PG play, two big playmaking wings with complementary games, a Mitch-Julius-Obi big man trio, and some nifty bench shooters (Knox/Burks/Frank?)...that team would be a lot of fun to watch with plenty of capspace & assets to make further moves.

If the season ended today, the Knicks would own picks:

#14
#15
#31
#41

Haven't looked at the two later guys but I like Scottie Lewis in that range and would move up for him if we think he might go higher. Would consider Greg Brown and Alperen Sengun with one of the higher picks as well.

Everything is fluid right now though.

Spoiler:
Also, checks out Sandro for BAF purposes...

Ziaire & BJ would be upside picks with great length and scoring potential. I like Cam’s shot making/taking ability and he is an excellent FT shooter who doesn’t have a shy bone in his body. Sandro is being slept on heavily.

Jalen Green, Kai Sotto, Jonathan Kuminga, Daishen Nix

So, how does this work out in terms of drafting? Have these guys signed with that team as a one and done?

I'd assume that's what is going to happen, but do they have the option of a 2nd year in the G-League to develop, not that I think any of them would turn down millions to be drafted.

All these guys going top 10? Or might Nix drop, but others are top 10?

Yeah I believe they’re signed as one and done, not sure though. Maybe they’ll have the option to return for another year if they want

Green and Kuminga are locks for the top 10. It’s up in the air for Nix. I haven’t seen much from Sotto but I think he’s supposed to be like a second round pick

I want higher

If we could walk away from those picks with Ziaire & Butler, I wouldn't complain

Especially because qualifying for the play-in would mean our pieces looked better & boosted their trade value, and our kids progressed while making us a more attractive FA destination for guys like GTJ & Hill. Keep that rolling and we'll be in a great spot to put a package together for the next disgruntled star to take our young team on the rise, to the next level.

Thomas can really shoot, but he's what many of us thought we were getting in IQ cause that kid is a pure flamethrower with next to no playmaking. He'd certainly help us (like Burks does), but I'd prefer a kid with some floor general ability...which is why I'm on that Jared Butler bandwagon.

Plus I don't think we should use both picks on young wings who will need some time. I'm all for using the DET SRP to grab a Scottie Lewis after snagging Ziaire (or BJ if he finishes the season well), but I would use our pick or the Mavs pick on a guard.

Haven't paid attention to Sandro to comment on him...though I feel like this regime won't end up using all of those picks, be it because we used one to trade up or because we flipped that last pick for a future SRP.

I'd gladly take Boston as an upside pick. Thing is I'm not sure the new Knicks scouts and regime wants to draft 18/19 y/o development upside picks anymore based on their selections of non-freshmen toppin and quickley in the last draft. If they continue that trend they'll pass on those types of guys for more established players. Gotta think they'll instead look at players like Kispert, Butler, Bouknight

Return to New York Knicks
