nah, I don't have the time nor stamina to do this every day with you and go back and forth. I am more like Quentin Grimes.

Do you think his negative .02 on/off net rating will turn positive by year end? Wolves schedule is easy the rest of the way I think.

As far as Grimes is concerned, what I have always believed is that he’s most confident when he’s playing with house money. No stakes, non-consequential basketball. Doesn’t need to overthink or panic.

I vividly remember the end of the 22-23 season when Grimes was going off in a completely non pressure environment. He dropped 22, 22, 23, 25, 29, 36 over an 8 game stretch. Five of those games he actually flashed his passing skills with over 5 dimes and in 6/8 games he made over 5 threes.

I even remember the end of the 21-22 season when Obi dropped 35 and 42 to close out the season. Hit 12 threes also.

Some players never translate that type of shooting in an empty gym feeling into succeeding in a hostile, every-possession-matters playoff atmosphere. Maybe Grimes becomes a deadly 6man down the road playing an important role. My gut tells me no

I doubt that is the reason. He went to Detroit and then Dallas before landing in Philly.

He was injured so 6 games in DET don't count as anything. In DAL his per minute production was actually better than his best year as a Knick over 47 games. Now, playing starter minutes he's putting up excellent numbers across the board after only a very short period of time in Philly.

IOW, when he left the Knicks there was a gap period and since then from DAL to PHIL he has put up pretty consistent numbers in both environments when given the chance to play.

Any issues he had during his downturn on the Knicks are his burden to bear. It is definitely between the ears, because he was the starter for Thibs and he lost the job. That was not about weak performances when it counted, because he was performing well on the Knicks before when it counted and we were already a playoff team.

No, it was an emotional breakdown. The guy fell apart and he had to put himself back together again. It happens and how we're seeing him perform, but his historical circumstances do not indicate it was due to playing in one environment or another. He just went though whatever crisis he had and he's pulling through now.

I'd love to test your thesis and put him into a playoff situation now, because that's the only way to know either way, but based on how consistently good he is playing now it looks like he has pulled through and come out the other side.

The guy is a superb NBA talent and he's showing us why.

I'm willing to deal with people expressing their doubts about him, but what I don't respect is how incapable some people are of respecting the current accomplishments of a player they got so used to trashing as if their ego can't handle a compliment towards the guy. It's petty, but this is the chitposting thread so I shouldn't expect anything better in here.

taking victory laps when when a 24 year old journeyman tank commander is putting up numbers in march on a rival team in desperate hope to be right and also trying to hold some superiority in fandom because of it - pathetic display but on brand.

exactly!

sometimes our love and support can look like harsh criticism but we're basically militant dads - it's only because we know how great he can be. pressure makes diamonds or something like that to justify our harsh criticism and short leash

the burden of being the voice of reason is heavy but someone has to carry it - it's an honor to carry it with you and green arrow.
