Clarkson is a passable shooter in terms of teams don't just leave him open...Russ...that one would be completely puzzling. In the playoffs when teams scheme against you having a guy like Russ in the game is such a killer to your spacing...we have seen it a lot with Hart...and Hart's a much better shooter.

Thunder just won the title and they were one of the worst shooting teams in the playoffs.

Yes shooting and spacing is important but the whole point of getting Towns and Brunson is that you already have two elite shooters. You can now fine tune your roster with of course some more shooting but you also have the luxury of being able to fit other kinds of role players around them.

How do you explain all of Denver's net ratings that suggest they were better with Russ off the floor than on it?

It's been the case for a minute now. Spacing is probably the most important thing in todays NBA. The willingness and threat to shoot and be guarded. OKC might have missed a lot of 3's but they still took them. Who on OKC could just be left at the 3 pt line?

OKC was 6th in the league this year in 3 pt % this idea they aren't a good shooting team isn't accurate. They certainly missed a lot more in the playoffs but they still took them. And they made up for it with elite defense...which the Knicks will never have with Brunson/KAT on the team so its even more important to emphasis elite offense because you can't make up for it on the other end with a top 5 type defense.

Agreed. Too much emphasis on the 3 point shot.

Clarkson can create his shot and handle the ball. Not very smart or efficient but it’s something I guess. Better than Payne and Deuce so at least it’s an upgrade somewhere

Sorry I didn't mean this in terms of defending a Russ signing. While I think there is some merit to signing Russ as purely a backup, I would hope there would be other moves made to fit him in a bit better.

Just saw the tweet and had some thoughts about it.

Westbrook is a high energy player. He will get his steals and weak side blocks. He is very similar to Hart at this point. I would actually love to have both coming off the bench and just killing the 2nd units with hustle and attacking.

I'm more worried about Deuce's minutes than Kolek's. Bench scoring was a big need so in theory Clarkson hits that but we can't suppress the personnel and lineups that were most effective for us. Deuce is in the Caruso mold. Just a winner.

This is not a rumor or anything: But would you guys agree on a sign-and-trade along the lines of:

Mitch for Clint Capela signed at (3years/36mill.) type deal?

Capela is a solid defender, great rebounder and much more durable. He also is the slightly better FT shooter and less prone to be hacked.

I wouldn't. Mitch is a better defender today than Capela.

I agree but his shooting was really inconsistant last season to say the least. I feel Caruso is much more consistant in everything he does on the court. But I get the general idea....
