I was told I was crazy and that I don't know what I'm talking about just yesterday, when I said this. Ainge has no pressure at all to trade with the Knicks. Many teams are interested, and Ainge will choose the right deal. If Rose wants to pony up and give Ainge what he wants, maybe it gets done. Ainge did not wake up suddenly and think to himself that maybe just this time he'll lose a trade.

If we want him, it's going to cost us. The Knicks are not in any type of negotiation advantage.

The only advantage we have is that we have more draft assets than other teams. If Leon doesn’t get it done and Donovan goes to Miami or Toronto or even just stays in Utah, I hope Dolan fires Leon Rose before the season starts.

I don’t think he sucks. Ainge is just asking for too much. It’s a ludicrous demand and all six of those teams can only offer less than the Knicks.

Flipside what are the odds Ainge sends Mitchell to the Celtics for that offer?

It's kind of addictive doing these. (I prefer the fanpro site as it gives more info on the players and has a big "adjust this trade"-button, whether the trade succeeds or not, but I suppose reasonable people might think the layout cluttered.)

One, minimalistic, version is Westwood to Utah, Mitchell to New York and Randle, McBride, Gay and one of Utah's smallest salaries (Fitts, Bolmaro, Jared Butler etc) to the Lakers.

Or are you thinking that Ainge can recycle Rose and THT for more picks than he can get for Conley or Bojan? (And hence would prefer to add them to a deal.)

I'm not a fan of going after Sexton, and I don't necessarily think SGA is great or close, but I'd say the same is probably true of Donovan. He's an upgrade yeah but not one worth gutting the team for.

Knicks need to stay firm. They're doing a good job I'd guess because otherwise this agreement would already be done if it means the Knicks shelling out damn near every asset.

Yea this trade is not gonna happen before training camp unless Leon caves.

Id just walk away now. Keep our “reasonable” offer on the table if it is better than other teams, but thats it. If Danny wants to talk in good faith we can talk.

Right now im more curious to see if Grimes will start and blossom next to Brunson. Ditto for are other youngs mentioned in the trade. I love Mitchell but thoughts of that midget back court don't exactly thrill me.

You dont need a source to understand how Woj and Shams work, they report based on what their source tells them to say when they arent reporting a done deal..

Woj reports trades before everyone because he has a source in the NBA who tells him when a trade call is happening..

Shams reports based on agents and players..

Woj was exposed during the Harden talks, he is a mouthpiece for certain teams

My concern is Dolan caving, not Rose, Dolan is the guy who will let the media get into his head and keep upping the offer to get it done. That's what I could see happening before Rose gives Ainge everything he wants.

Right now it’s Ainges work time and DM vacation and DM likely respects Ainge but there may a back door understanding of acceptable destinations.

Utah does value Obi, Grimes, IQ..Ainge demanding them is indicative of this

along with 6-7 1st round picks. The point is if you have more valued young pieces it would be one of the other.

I get that, but I do think Ainge throws all logic out the window. He's a zero sum type who will try to get ALL of what he thinks he can get.

What is the value of an individual player when he needs to be traded with several other players and also 6-7 1st round draft picks? And the trade is for ONE PLAYER. How much value is that?

2022 is an outlier in Randle's career.

In almost every way 2022 was by far his worst pro season. The numbers are clear. Career 18 PER. 15 in 2022.

Career 55% True Shooting.
50% in 2022.
Career 47% FG%.
40% in 2022.
Career 33% 3pt%
30% in 2022.

The empty arenas thing doesn't bear out because he's been a much better player. He didn't just have a crazy good year and regress. He had a crazy good year and season as bad as his age 20 rookie year.

A major issue with Julius tho is he got a taste of being “the man” in 20-21, and I don’t know if he can go back to playing a bit more off ball like he used to again.

If we want him to have a smaller role, play faster, and be more efficient then we should just get rid of him and start Obi instead, who’s better at that stuff without the emo baggage.

Bottom line for me: Julius has already shown he can and will meltdown. Whether its the 2021 playoffs where he laid an egg, or last season where he acted like a brat for most of it, I just cant trust him again.

Hoping we at least pick Julius or Obi this year, and trade the other. Their whole situation isnt good for the team or fans so Leon needs to choose one already.
