The paused talks is a front in my opinion. Now that Dolan and Mills found their future scapegoat in Perry they will hire him first and trade Melo a few days later saying it was all Perry's idea. That way in case the Knicks get burned in the trade they can blame Perry. I'm not impressed with the Perry signing. He looks likes hes going to be a "yes man" to Dolan/Mills.

So he's a yes man AND a future scape goat. Makes total sense....

Mills: no, he was pretty much the only good player we had other than Melo. He covered up for him a lot. Perfect fit actually.

Perry: Well at least you got guys via the draft who could be a part of your rebuild.

Mills: both selections are gone. Nobody from that deal even made the team last season.

Perry: Well, you got the best deal you could I guess. At least you didn't pass on anything good and DAL was probably hell bent on keeping their pick for the 2015 draft.

Mills: we passed on Crowder and they traded their first during the season for Rondo.

Yeah Tyson and Melo was a beautiful dream pairing.

They went together pretty damn well. I would love to know their record together with Melo at the 4. Probably at least 25 games over .500.

So the Knicks signed THJ to launch shots - only to consider keeping Melo, who will also launch shots - and somehow wants Porzingis to take a step up in his development this season. Sounds like a sound plan.

This trade not working out is all Chris Paul's fault. He had to try and help the Clippers on his way out and cost Houston the assets thry would need to get Melo. Beverley, Dekker, Harrell and Sweet Lou would all be enticing pieces for the Knicks but now they have nothing. I hope you enjoy another 1st round exit CP3!

I'm impressed with Mills. He didn't just take anything. I love this move PR wise. The new regime saves face and it put's the ball in Melo's court. If he demands, the Knick's don't have to give in to everything. Phil really hurt us because his insults were so severe that we almost felt bad not giving Melo everything that he wanted. Now, this new regime doesn't have that problem. Theyre going to say all the right things and if Melo demands, he's the bad guys. We could then try to get him to expand his list.

So what if he stays? He plays us to a low seed in the playoffs, comes up short against a team like Washington and then opts out for greener pastures. Right in time for the Lebron opt out. I wouldn't be mad. 30 mill in cap space free to use.

They're banking on the fact that CP3 really wants Melo there, and since he isn't committed long term, that puts pressure on them to make win-now moves to convince him to stay

Plus, nobody of Melo's caliber is left on the trade block, or in free agency

Risk is great, but the reward is possibly a good haul for a player we thought we weren't getting anything for

I don't even understand what the risk is. Either we get something we want for him from the Rox, Cleveland steps up and makes a real offer, either team gets desperate in Feb and gives up more, or Melo exercises his ETO and he's off the books next summer.
