Now that Dolan and Mills found their future scapegoat in Perry they will hire him first and trade Melo a few days later saying it was all Perry's idea. That way in case the Knicks get burned in the trade they can blame Perry. I'm not impressed with the Perry signing. He looks likes hes going to be a "yes man" to Dolan/Mills.

So he's a yes man AND a future scape goat. Makes total sense....

If Houston really wanted to figure it out, they'd move Ariza or Capela in the deal.

The Knicks want Anthony to meet with the new front office and coach Jeff Hornacek in the near future, but it's unlikely that Anthony will respond with eagerness about a plan to reincorporate himself into a franchise that has been pushing him -- publicly and privately -- to accept a trade out of New York, league sources said.

So Melo now has his heart set on Houston.

There was never going to be a white knight 3rd team willing to take on Anderson. Melo I think knows this and it circles back to him holding all the cards. He knows his value is **** and he knows the only way the Knicks can move on is by writing him a 60 million dollar check. The NTC is up there with the Eddy Curry trade in terms of pure idiocy.

Perry: What did you get in the Tyson deal?

Mills: Calderon, Dalembert, Ellington, Larkin and 2 2nds.

Perry: Well a true least you got to dump Tyson's terrible contract.

Mills: no he was expiring. We actually took on more longer term money.

Perry: was he terrible and couldn't mesh with Melo?

Mills: no, he was pretty much the only good player we had other than Melo. He covered up for him a lot. Perfect fit actually.

Perry: Well at least you got guys via the draft who could be a part of your rebuild.

Mills: both selections are gone. Nobody from that deal even made the team last season.

Perry: Well, you got the best deal you could I guess. At least you didn't pass on anything good and DAL was probably hell bent on keeping their pick for the 2015 draft.

Mills: we passed on Crowder and they traded their first during the season for Rondo.

Perry: ummmm, I'll call you back.

Yeah Tyson and Melo was a beautiful dream pairing.

They went together pretty damn well. I would love to know their record together with Melo at the 4. Probably at least 25 games over .500.

I'm off tmrw so maybe I'll tally it up.

So training camp has started already with Melo and THJr reporting....still months away.

So a nba team is suppose to have 1 solo scorer? Smh

If Jeff can get the team on board with team ball your statement is relevant.

I have tons of faith in Hornacek reinventing Melo from an isolation scorer to a team ball specialist at 33 years of age.

Get off the ledge. This was the perfect opportunity to revisit our options. This is just negotiation.

Blame Chris Paul

If he didn't want his supermax next year, he could've just opted out and signed with Houston, then they trade their assets to us instead of trying to swing a 3 plus team deal

sorry houston and portland we're not trading our all-star to take on one of your garbage ass contracts. melo wants to go to houston he got all the power to bounce next summer.

yeah, instead of garbage contract we choose to stagger our youth development and worse pick in the lottery. Great trade.

I'm impressed with Mills. He didn't just take anything. I love this move PR wise. The new regime saves face and it put's the ball in Melo's court. If he demands, the Knick's don't have to give in to everything. Phil really hurt us because his insults were so severe that we almost felt bad not giving Melo everything that he wanted. Now, this new regime doesn't have that problem. Theyre going to say all the right things and if Melo demands, he's the bad guys. We could then try to get him to expand his list.

So what if he stays? He plays us to a low seed in the playoffs, comes up short against a team like Washington and then opts out for greener pastures. Right in time for the Lebron opt out. I wouldn't be mad. 30 mill in cap space free to use.

eventually CP3 and Harden will push Morey to make this happen...what does harden or CP3 care about future 1st round picks....if they want CP3 to resign they need Melo.

Could really backfire

It's a gamble

They're banking on the fact that CP3 really wants Melo there, and since he isn't committed long term, that puts pressure on them to make win-now moves to convince him to stay

Plus, nobody of Melo's caliber is left on the trade block, or in free agency

Risk is great, but the reward is possibly a good haul for a player we thought we weren't getting anything for

I don't even understand what the risk is. Either we get something we want for him from the Rox, Cleveland steps up and makes a real offer, either team gets desperate in Feb and gives up more, or Melo exercises his ETO and he's off the books next summer.

What is the major risk?
